An ode to my parents who don't understand my transition.
I know that I have hurt you,
But I'm trying to be true,
Please, understand it's not your fault,
I'm breaking open my heart's vault.

You fear the world and all you see,
But they did not influence me.
In no way, could my faith break,
A mistake with me, He did not make.

Fear is such an awesome foe,
It can drag the bravest oh so low.
But love from me, you will not lose,
Though Godlessness, you think I choose.

So where do we all go from here?
It's not my aim to disappear.
Understanding will take time,
And quite more than simple rhymes.

My only prayer I ask is this,
That you find love for more than Chris.
For he is still a part of me,
Though different wrapper, you may see.

For I'd miss the times of joyous mirth,
Away from you, there from my birth.
I know for now, things are askew,
But Mom and Dad, I'll always love you.
