Over time, things got so bad for the people living in The Great Leader's kingdom that the rest of the world decided it had to step in. Aside from crying she only did the things she had to do in order to survive. She would eat little bread and cheese, drink some water, bathe once in a while and comb her hair and change her clothes. She would sit in the sun for 20 minutes every day, between 12:00 and 12:20, precisely. She would sit there timidly, crying some and reading a book with strange letters and writings. One day, I could take it no longer and asked her why she would choose to squander her beauty, youth and health and imprison herself in her tears. Because of that, she was forced to give it some thought. She was crying while thinking, trying to find an answer and failing. Until finally, I took her hand and told her to come with me. We walked slowly for two hours or so, until we reached the beach. It had been her first time there, as she never left her house. She was so amazed she stopped crying for a minute and smiled and held my hand real tight. Once upon a time there was a demigod who ruled over a small realm of the multiverse. Everyday, he plotted and schemed to expand his dimension to include the mortals, for he had a particular longing to protect these finite beings and raise them into an awareness where they too, could harness the powers of the deities. His trouble was that the realm of the mortals was strongly locked down by the dark curse of the archfiends, which could cast him into the void of eternal inexistence if he tread too close to his desire. One day, the Universal Consciouness of the entire multiverse approached this demigod, pondering his intention with the mortals; begging him to stay clear of the potential abolishment he faced if he were to tempt winning over the curse. The demigod pleaded with the Universal Conciousness to allow him the power of protection from the curse, to finally be able to attain dominion over the loves of his desire... Mother Earth and her surroundings. Again, the Universal Consciousnes appealed to this demigod, for the curse could not be broken, as it too served a divine purpose. It explained that without the darkness, no mortal could ever learn of sacrifice and loss. They would never learn to appreciate what little they have, and would always incarnate into greed and desire, never grasping the spirit of being present for another. Because of that, the demigod knelt down in meditation, then lifted his arms to the infinite sea of divine being, and screamed 'I will not let them go!, they are my family! I AM THEIR SOUL!'. The demigod burst into the realm of the mortals and spread his field of power over all of Mother Earth, adorning the air and water of the whole galaxy with the consecrated molecule of holy knowledge, until finally, every being was embraced by an immaculate transendental state, finally realizing their true nature. The demigod entered the heart of every one of them, endowing them with the power of divinity to exist only in love, for love, to love. And then, bellowing loudly to the Universal Consciuosness, stated 'If freedom of these beings means my ultimate sacrifice, see this as my offering. If adorning the mortals with the spirit of love does not earn me protection from the curse, I accept my fate. But let my family free, the mortals have been enslaved long enough.' By:J. Lee

Once upon a time there was a story, not just any story, but a story where the good guys win and the bad guys lose, sometimes there would be lessons to learn, and sometimes it was for the audiences entertainment. Not all stories can be like that. Everyday the people of the world would be consumed, no matter what happened it was as if they were lost to life itself, they worship idols, and fame, riches and popularity. The people who could not or would not suffered for many a time it didn't matter who. One day a normal person, one who would worship or proclaim excitement to many if not all of these things, this person changed their perspective, it all began with the kindness from someone who suffers from being different. The person gave this main character what little money he had and said that his time here was done, he said it was all he had but a single dollar, 'how could he live in this world' thought the main character, 'with such low money, doesn't he know that money is something you worship and hold as the most treasured?' The person thought to himself as he began to question the reality of this. 'Also, how would he know of what happened to the singer, who is the most popular, who got dumped, I never heard of him before so he obviously wasn't at all popular, I tried to know everyone, fame is everything! He had no idols, what is wrong with that man?' Because of that the person in this story couldn't sleep well and ended up with a terrible and wonderful dream, in it an unknown figure dressed in rich clothes and special aura, it was so happy that he wanted it but he couldn't reach it, the unknown person spoke out to him, "Do you remember me? I hoped I could speak to you again and tell you that I appreciate the gift I received from you." The dreamer spoke out to the voice in the dream exclaiming, "What gift, I never gave a gift in my life! I have the knowledge to know that by gathering everything I get and treasuring my riches I live with the best." Answering the main character the silhouette reveals himself as the man who gave everything away, he was dead but he looked very alive, "You gave me the gift of giving, without you my wonderful gifts would have been put to waste. I want to thank you for the shame you set aside for me, and the kindness you showed to me before I left your world, I appreciated it," Smiles away the man.
"What kindness, I tried to ignore you and I coughed on you for the sake of humility, and as for shame, I stood dignified with the power of my popularity and riches!" Yells out the main character to his dream. "You went out of your daily routine and gave me a use in the end of my day, you showed me yourself without hiding and you also kept to yourself, I felt happy when you didn't want me to give as if I was going. And before I go," the man exclaims stepping forward and showing him the now healed scars from his real-life death. They were healed and it seemed as if he made them happy, "You have so much potential so don't waste it. Goodbye." The main character frowned at this and realized the error of this world, when he got up the next day he gave everything away and lived out the rest of his days using what he learned from the old man, he kept that one dollar bill, and he could feel the hearts of everyone it touched. Until finally he met the same fate as the old man, He gave away the dollar to some rich snob just like the millions of people before him, and he changed the rich person's life forever, as for his death, he got hit by a stampede on Black Friday many of the rich never got what they wanted or -needed- but the main character. Just like the old man before him he received the gifts of luxury at the end of his days, because he was humble and kind when everyone expected rich and rude. The cycle can continue forever until the world is changed, Thine end. By:Sean

Once upon a time, there was a young man who lived in a small country. Every day or most days, he would hope to leave his small country and escape the homophobia he faced there on a daily basis. He had a really tough time going through his days. He was always teased, and pelted with bottles and stones and called nasty names. One day, he was online on a gay dating website and had received a mail from a guy who lives in Europe. He had gotten many emails from guys living abroad, but nothing ever came from them. He had made several friendly contacts, even a good friend with whom he keeps contact with today. This guy, however, particularly took great interest in the young man, and because of that wrote to him telling him that he would come to his country for a visit. This made the young man excited, but he knew it could be just like other guys who have visited him in the past, spent their two weeks of holiday and left. Upon arrival of this guy, they instantly had a good connection with each other. The next two weeks they’ve had a lovely time together, and then the man had to return to Europe because his vacation was over, and he had to return to work. This made the young man sad. He thought that would be it for him and this guy, and to his surprise they kept contact. The man was interested in the young man, as to his life’s history, and how he copes with the day to day struggle he faces in his country. Christmas was fast approaching and to the young man's surprise, the man returned from Europe to spend the Christmas holidays with him. The young and thought this to be rather odd. He knew they had a good contact going, but he never thought it was that good enough for the man to fly all the way from Europe just to spend the Christmas holidays with him. Until finally, the man asked him, if he would like to return with him to Europe and live there. This proposal surprised the young man to unexpected proportions. Indeed it is what he had hoped for, but for it to happen this way baffled him so. He was in the middle of his first semester at college. “I can’t just pick up and live like that!” He replied, “I have a job and I’m attending college which I won’t be finished with until the next three years!” “Please think about it sweetie.” The man implored “nothing will happen overnight, and I would like to prepare things for your arrival back home.” Though hesitant, he knew regardless how crazy things had panned out, he thought to himself that he must take the opportunity because he knew a golden egg like that came along once in a lifetime. He wasn’t keen on the mans’ drinking habits, after all, he grew up with a foster father who drank like a fish, and abused him as to add salt to the wound. He didn’t want to go through that experience again, especially from the man he had a romantic relationship with. April the following year came, and he was busy writing his paper for his critical thinking class. Knowing that the college would soon come to an end, he thought that it would be best leaving during the break that came after. He had little time to wrap things up. In the first week of may before the holiday break, he left to go meet the man in Europe. He had a one month visa, which he thought gave him enough time to get a feel of the country, and also living with the man to know what kind of person he really was. Eight and a half years have now passed. the young man still lives in Europe, but no longer with the man, he had left his country for. The relationship lasted fours years until the had found someone else from another country to fall in love with. The young man now shares a flat with a very good friend who is like a mother to him. Things have changed so much over the past years, with the young man having to learn a lot about life, and the stresses that come along with it especially in a strange world that is not his own. He’s still single and seems not to be in a rush to get into another relationship. For now, he’s just contented with finishing his education while trying to find his place in life. By:Malum Sibley

Once upon a time there was a Gatekeeper named Poston, though to anyone you’d ask, he was just a street guy named ‘Port.’ His hair was unwashed; his clothes pilfered from garbage bins, and his hands and face, a perpetual smudge of filth and scars. He did have one striking feature however, and that was his beautiful, crystal blue eyes. Anyone that saw him was left with the feeling that in all that filth and neglect, God himself had not allowed a single spec of dirt to fall on those perfectly blue eyes. Everyday he’d come to the shelter on 52nd and although he was friendly to everyone, he would simply have his meal and proceed back to his home.
Home was just outside of town, at the start of a bike trail named Snake Canyon Gulch Trail – called that probably because the town was at the bottom of a deep gorge and the trail wound from there, like a snake’s back through a circuitous route bordering bare rock face until finally opening up onto the great plains far above. One day a rich German couple came to stay on their vacation, and of course, to ride the trail with their Über expensive European bicycles. Gunter and Greta Görtz had a secret, and although nobody in America – North or South– would have recognised what that secret was (aside, of course for university professors or priests and the like) Port very much did! The gate that Port kept, or guarded, or whatever he did after the town when about its business, led to Hell and although Port wasn’t exactly an upstanding citizen, he certainly wasn’t a God damn demon, nor did he go in for such non-sense either.
As it turns our, Gunter and Greta had souls with them, in a red satchel I believe. Now this part is very sharp in my mind, after all, everyone knows that Europeans are prone to carrying satchels – not purses, clutches or man-purses like we Americans do.
Because of that, Port found himself in the position of being the last line of defence between these hapless bastards finding redemption or eternal life without air-conditioning. Now understand that he’d been in this position for centuries, and had looked rather odd when the natives had passed through hundreds of years previous. Seeing a dishevelled white man sitting on a trail in the middle of nowhere was bound to throw people off, and the Lakota weren’t any exception. This went on – as I’ve said, for a rather long time – and to be fair, not a lot of people tried to get to Hell through this path, most using the one alcohol, drug addiction or binge watching The Walking Dead provides – but I digress. Until finally on this day – it was early July I think - (Message redacted as persons or situations involved are likely to reveal details not in line with the overall security of this nation and its intelligence agencies.) Once upon a time, there was a girl named Anne who liked to spend time talking to plants and animals even though she knew they would never respond to her. Every day, she would wake up and greet her beloved dandelions and tulips and, at school, she would always spend her time near the oak tree, whispering things that concerned her and asking for its opinion. One day, a kid came near her and asked her why she always spoke to the trees and animals. She told her that because of that she would have no friends in the future and that she will spend her life alone. "But I have my flowers. And they will never leave me. I will always have them listening to me and caring about me". Because of that, the children at school condemned Anne as a foolish girl to whom they should never talk to. Nobody would talk to her for weeks and weeks to come. Until finally, they understood what she had told them. It was only the small flowers that would care about her and listen to her. All her friends had abandoned her and so it is only to the flowers that she could speak. By:Christiana Galani

Once upon a time there was a little fairy dancing in a meadow. No one could see her but a young boy. Everyday, he hid behind a fallen tree trunk and watched the little fairy dancing to a music that chimed as airy and light as her delicate dress swaying with every turn of her slender body. In his hiding place, the boy began to sway too. The music seemed to fill every ounce of his being. But then, he stopped. Looking down at his torn, washed-out, much-too-short pants, his skinny legs and dirty feet, he felt shame and sorrow. Never. Never would he ever dance with an ethereal creature like her. If she could see him, she would disappear. His longing sighs seemed to fill the meadow. And yet, the fairy danced on. One day, the young boy arrived late at the meadow. The sun was setting, adorning the horizon with spectacular glows of red and orange, with silver streaks reaching like feathers towards the snow capped mountains. Because of that, he got distracted. He jumped at the sound of a crystal-clear voice beside him, “Want to dance with me? Dance, until we reach the horizon?” Eyes wide, he looked at the fairy. She floated beside him in all her beauty, leaving him breathless. The shimmer of her wings, her sky-blue eyes and her dress swaying with the slightest movement of her body. He was frozen, still. Smiling, she beckoned, “Come, beautiful boy, dance with me.” Hesitating, he took one step, then another, and another, and with every step his appearance changed. Until finally, his beauty matched hers. Joining hands, they danced, feather like, into the silver-lined horizon. By:Anne Arthur

Once upon a time there was a man named Dick Casey. Everyday, he met with broads who slid him some spinach to find their lost sisters or a flattie would toss him some berries to help catch the latest serial killer. One day, Casey pulled the collar of his overcoat up, smashed his fedora on his head, and hurried out to put the screws on a goon by the name of One Eyed Bart. Casey suspected the cat was working with Big Eddy down at the docks. And they weren't bringing in fish. "Hey there, Bart," Casey growled, stepping out of the shadows behind the old hash house. Bart dropped his gasper and reached for his bean shooter. Casey lifted his own gat and shook his head. "No need to burn powder. I ain't lookin' to haul you to the big house. I'm here for the rumble on a catch Big Eddy is expecting tonight." "I ain't no stoolie," Bart spit onto the alley floor. Casey slowly reached into his pocket, pulled out a yard, and held it out to Bart. "I ain't interested in yer scratch, neither. Kale ain't no good to a stiff." Bart sneered. "Now if you don't mind, it's time fer me to drift. Got an appointment to keep, you know." Casey's gaze narrowed as Bart's backside disappeared inside the restaurant.
"Because of that," Casey mumbled, stuffing the cabbage back into his pocket, "I'm gonna have to to tip a few with Max." Casey sighed at the thought. Casey tossed some sugar at a hack. "Fifth and Garfield," he told the cabbie. Tina's was the most popular gin mill on the east side of town. It was also the best place to find Max on a Friday night. "Casey!" He grinned as Max sauntered toward him, fingering the ice around her pipes. "It's been a long time since we've bumped gums," she purred. She grabbed his arm and leaned in to smack his mug, leaving behind a red smudge of lipstick. "Tina, how 'bout a cup of joe?" Casey sank onto a barstool, forcing Max to release his arm. "And I'll have a jorum of skee," Max winked, "Since my friend here is paying." Casey sipped his javva, "Word on the street is there's a certain party goin' down at the docks tonight." Casey stared at her over the rim of his coffee cup. "You're putting me behind the eight ball, Casey. You know what'll happen if I sing..." she trailed off, her lips puckering into a pout. Casey bought her another round until finally, Max pulled a card from her bosom, grinned, and slid it across the counter. "I might be a bunny but you're just too cute to resist." With a frown, Casey took a slant at the scribbles on the card. "Thanks for the drinks, toots." According to Max's information, the big event was supposed to take place at seven in the evening. Casey took to the shadows at six. With narrowed eyes he watched as men started creeping onto the docks. "You've been made, Casey!" Casey jumped and swore as a Roscoe pressed against his back. "Hey, boys!" the voice called, "Look what the cat drug in!" With a rough nudge, Casey was encouraged to move forward. His eyes flickered over the group of people gathered at the dock. Their eyes narrowed as he stepped from the shadows. "Dang it, Casey!" Big Eddy grumbled, crossing his arms over his massive chest, "This was supposed to be your surprise birthday party!" As the gun shifted away from Casey's back, he tipped his hat at his friends and family, "Surprise!" By:Genipher

Once upon a time there was a wicked college instructor. Every day she would torture her students with rules. Students had to sign contracts at the beginning of the semester agreeing to abide by her absurd classroom rules, in order to stay in class and complete the course. The list of classroom rules was as follows:
1. Be respectful to me and your classmates. To gain respect, one must give respect.
2. Cell phones are to be turned off and placed in backpack. Withdrawal symptoms will dissipate in 3 days
3. Be ethical. This means no cheating, no plagiarism, no lying, and knowing right from wrong.
4. No sleeping in class, and no rolling of eyeballs
5. No talking or whispering in class. I can read lips.
6. There are no excuses allowed for missing class unless you are having emergency brain surgery, or are hemorrhaging from every one of your body orifices.
7. No one ever said life is fair. So get over it and stop your whining.
One day last week, like radar, my hearing zoomed to a particular student who was muttering obscenities about the course and me. I abruptly stopped lecture, and the rest of the class immediately came out of their stupors. “Mr. Holland, would you care to share your comments with the class?’ I politely asked. He did not answer me but tried to stare a hole through me. I stared just as fiercely at him, trying not to lick my lips in anticipation at eating him alive. The rest of the class collectively held their breath in anticipation. Because of the unacceptable behavior and his refusing to answer me, I called Security to remove him from the class. The stare down contest continued until finally, someone from Security came into my classroom. As he was being escorted by Security to the door, I said, “Mr. Holland, it would behoove you to become a part of the solution in this decaying society, instead of being an intensive pain in the ass. The students roared in laughter. I am happy to report that Mr. Holland learned a life lesson. He learned that with every action, there is a consequence, sometimes good, sometimes bad. Once upon a time there was a forbidden love, tied together by fate herself. The two came from other kingdoms, who's differences have now caused a long and heavy bloodshed. Everyday, the two lovers would meet in secret, behind the old oak tree, away from sight. There they would whisper softly, just loud enough to hear, as the two kingdoms brawled. One day, while gathering on that late October night, the couple was found by old Sir. Hollow, the wisest elder for thousands of miles. The old fart just smiled his aged smile, blessing the two for bravery. "While everyone is unnerved, these two young'uns found love." The senior croaked. Because of that, the teens made a plan. It was dangerous and was littered with the chance of failure, but they believed. One night, while the Kings scuffled, the lovers pushed their way through, screaming a stop. Once upon a time there was a small female squirrel born into a family of six others. She was the last to be born and as such was the lowest in the pecking order. Everyday, her family would go searching for food and visit the neighborhood bird feeder. Being the littlest, she would routinely get chased from the feeder by her larger brothers and sisters and have to root among the husks of seeds at the bottom of the table. One day the human that filled the feeder came out as she was on the floor. The little squirrel shrank back in fear, but the man seemed kind. He gently threw a small handful of sunflower seeds to her after he filled the feeder. The hungry little squirrel was stunned but settled down to eat while keeping a wary eye on the human. Her brothers and sisters quickly returned when the human went back inside and she was chased from her small pile of seeds from an older sibling only being able to consume a few in the short time the man was outside. The little squirrel continued to root through the husks occasionally gleaning a small nut or seed that had fallen to the ground or gone unnoticed. Over time she looked forward to the time each day the man would return to fill the feeder. She would edge a little closer and each time he would throw her a small handful of seeds or a small nut or two. Because of that, she started to put on a little weight and her position in the family hierarchy started to rise. She was not left to root among the husks and was able to hold her own on the table. She continued to fill out as she had more access to the additional food on the table. The man continued to return each day to fill the feeder, always kind with soft soothing words for her. Until finally one day, she chose to simply watch as her brethren ran off when the man returned to fill the feeder. He poured a small pile in front of her of sun flower seeds and then proceed to fill the feeder. The man remained outside within a foot or so of her while she made short work of the food. The man held a large peanut out to her in his hand. Her whiskers twitched and her gaze remained on the man. Tentatively she reached for it taking it in her mouth and then sat back on her haunches using her front paws to hold the nut while she eagerly tore at it, and thus a brand new friendship had formed... Once upon a time there was a young prince named Percival who lived in a castle high above a small village. Every day, since his twelfth birthday, Percival dreaded the day he would be forced to marry the young girl his father had chosen for him. Magna was pretty enough, nice enough, and she would one day make someone a good wife. But not for Percival, for he loved another—a shopkeeper’s daughter from the village. Percival sometimes entered the village dressed as a common laborer; how else would he know the subjects he would one day rule? When he entered the shop and his eyes fell on the blue eyed beauty, his heart filled with love. He had heard of love at first sight, but now he was a believer. He dreamed of the day he would marry Livia. One day, Percival spoke with his father. Trying to change the king’s mind, he told his father of his love for Livia, and that Livia loved him, too. But the king would not relent. Instead, he threatened to send Livia away if Percival continued with his silly notions of love. Because of that, Percival had to hide his love for Livia from everyone, even from Livia. His father did not make idle threats. Besides, the king was well within his rights to pick his son’s wife, and the king did not take kindly to anyone who refused him. Percival would be forced to marry Magna, and there was nothing he could do to change that. Until finally, when Percival was summoned to the king’s bed chamber a year later, and he learned of his father’s impending death. When the king drew his last breath everyone left the chamber except Magma, Percival’s intended. Seeing her smile, Percival knew she was imagining herself as his queen, draped in the jewels confiscated from the King’s conquered lands. Instead, Magna took from inside her silk robe a scroll and gave it to Percival. Unrolling it, Percival read what his father had written. Words that would forever change his life. All promises of marriage between my son, Percival, and Magna are voided with my death. Percival may marry a girl of his own choosing. Percival's eyebrows knitted when he scrutinized the handwriting. His father did not add swirls to the ends of his S’s like the ones in the scroll. He also did not curl the bottom of his R’s. He had seen this handwriting many times before. He looked at Magma and saw the mischievous smile that brightened her eyes. He leaned in and kissed her cheek lightly. “Thank you,” he said. Percival hurried from the chamber and into his room where he took the laborers clothing from its hiding place. By:Bikerider

Once upon a time there was a small kingdom called Lamonde Arbre, located on the island Pantazarl, which traversed the skies of Sartalfheim, never being seen by the dwarves or those that visited them. As small as this kingdom was, it was the most important kingdom in all the nine realms. Everyday they would come, the legions of darkness, to the walls of Lamonde Arbre. They came to destroy Urdanbrun, the well of fate and the only thing separating yggdrasil from the dark realm. There were only two beings that knew of this place, Freyja a goddess of Vanaheim and Odin god of Asguard. These two would bring lost souls to Pantazarl where they could earn some measure of redemption defending the walls of the city before judgement was passed upon them, for Pantazarl was no ordinary island, it was a land of the dead, a place the armies of the living could not survive. One day Freyja was captured, betrayed by her betheren in there quest for power, they wanted her know ledge. Freyja had lived a long life and her memories vast, they took all that she knew and stored it in a grimore. Because of that, several years later this grimore would fall into the hands of evil, it would be analysed and studied. Until finally, its secrets would be revealed and a chain of events set in motion that would bring the realms of yggdrasil to their knees. By:Spartacus

Once upon a time, there was a small boy named, Christopher. Every day he walked the short distance to his school with his classmates. His best friend was Dually and then there was David, Toby, and Suzie. One day, half-way to school he spied a wallet on the ground next to a bush. Excited, he dashed over and picked it up. All of his friends crowded around, Dually said, "Open it, Chris!" That is when Toby chimed in, "Yeah! Open it." Christopher opened the wallet and there was a man's driver's license in the front. "Is there money in it?" Suzie asked, "Look to see Chris." David added excitedly, "Maybe there's a million dollars in it!" Because of that Christopher opened the wallet and there was a lot of money in it. He didn't know how much but it looked like a lot. Dually nudged him in the arm, "Count it!" Chris took the paper bills out of the wallet and counted them. They were all twenty dollar bills and they added up to over $880 dollars. Chris put the bills back in the wallet and folded it in half. "What are you going to do with all that money?" Suzie said wide-eyed. Chris didn't know, he didn't even know what to say but stuck it in his back pocket, and continued toward school. They walked the rest of the way to school in silence. Christopher couldn't get his mind off the driver's license. It had the owner's name and address as well as his picture. He wanted to keep the money but he knew who the owner was so it didn't feel right.
All day Dually, David, Toby, and Suzie kept asking Chris what he was going to do with the money but he didn't reply. He just couldn't shake the feeling it wouldn't be right to keep it. Chris knew the street on the driver's license. Dually kept telling him,"Just take the money and throw the wallet away." Toby was saying, "Finder's keepers, Losers Weepers." Then David said Chris was stupid if he returned it to the guy on the driver's license. At the end of the day, they all headed toward home. Christopher stopped, pulled the wallet out of his back pocket. Looking down at it he said, "I know where this guy lives because of that I am returning the wallet with the money in it." "You're dumb!" Toby yelled. "Yeah!" David added, "You're so stupid!" Until finally, Chris looked at them, "I am returning it to the guy on the driver's license, it may be all he's got. It might be his grocery money and rent for the month. I can't keep it! It isn't right." All of Christopher's friends stood blankly staring at him. They all followed Chris to the house on the driver's license. Chris walked up to the door nervously and knocked on it. When the guy in the picture opened the door and Chris held out the wallet, "Is this your's mister? I found it down the street." The guy took the wallet, opened it and saw the money was all there. Then without saying a simple Thank You, he shut the door. Chris slowly turned and walked toward his friends. By:Lassie

Once upon a time there was a person who lived everyday worried about what the future would bring. He would worry constantly about everything life could possibly throw at him and this would bring him into very dark places. Once upon a time there was a very bad disease that infected more and more people. I have it on good authority that it was sexually transmitted at first but eventually it could be contracted in other ways. There was no cure. First, it would lead to infertility. Then, it would lead to cancer. Eventually, it would lead to death. By the end of the third Earth era, the government implemented laws to rid the disease. Firstly, there were mandatory blood draws each week for all people not only to check for infection but also to track the disease's advance. Secondly, a person could only sleep with someone of their same age or older to avoid endangering the new generations. Thirdly, all those who were infected were quarantined until such time as they died. People weren't too upset. The disease took decades to kill it's host. They were sent to an island where they had the best of everything. People rose from poverty to shameful wealth in an instant. Millions were ripped from the working class and vomited into the top five percent. Everyday, more and more people from the underprivileged class intentionally infected themselves to live out the rest of their lives on Sunset Island. Many who were infected started charging bitcoins to infect those who wished to retire. One day, they found a cure. I also have it on good authority that there was a cure all along although not commercially viable. All of the people who were still inhabiting Sunset Island were reintegrated into society. They were given menial jobs much like the ones they had before they retired. Since the lower class was quickly perishing and because no one from the middle class wanted to take their place the upper class feared rebellion. I often wonder if the cure would have been found as quickly if cheap labor hadn't been an issue. Because of that, I do not want you to sell your inventions to people who will not use them for the greater good lest they become hoarded or misused. I will always love you Zorlok. Until my dying day. For years I was hesitant to tell you of the events which transpired before you were born until finally, I decided to leave you this letter. Heed my words and pass them onto your children and make sure they pass them onto theirs and so forth. With you always. X.o.x.o., Dad. By:C Dizzle

Once upon a time there was a trio of trees, the color of blood. Everyday, the trees stood very still, not even the wind could move them. A horrible story surrounded them, stating that they were actually three sisters who had been murdered but the cruel lord of the land. The story went that the lord had accused them falsely of the black arts, and, as he had them on the executioners block, one of the sisters cursed him, that the next time he killed an innocent wrongly accused, they would punish him. Where their bodies were buried, three trees grew, blood red, and oozing the thick liquid. The trees grew for years, poisoning the soil, poisoning the river. One day, the cruel lord tried and executed an innocent of a crime that, seemed, even to the villagers, bogus. He didn't care, for anyone who defied him would feel his wrath. With a sinister laugh, he ordered the executioner to behead the boy. Because of that, a horrible screech was heard from the direction of the Blood Trees. The blood from the three trees began to flow from the branches, creep it's way to toward the village. As the blood snaked along it's path, horrible whispers were heard, wicked laughter and this sent shivers down the villagers' spines. They all fled to their homes, locked themselves inside, afraid of what was coming. The blood wound its way toward the lord's feet, and that was when the dark, thick liquid became alive, taking on the forms of the three sisters. "We are here to punish you," the said, reaching for him. He screamed in terror as he realized the curse was true. The curse on him was true . He tried to run, stumbled as he did so. But he ran nonetheless, even the the blood was following him faster than he could run. And, still, he ran. Until finally, the blood caught up to him. Starting with his feet, it wound its way up his body, covering every inch of him from the outside in. He choked to death on the blood. And to this day, the trees are no more. By:Kelly Lee

Once upon a time there was a Sorcerer, who lived in his palace of vanishing glass with his team of apprentices and a group of attendant Elves. The Sorcerer's palace was called the Palace of Seasons because the exterior of the glass palace took on the color of the season in order to remain invisible. Everyday, the Spirit of the current season went through the palace and decorated it with her colors, leaves and flowers, flora and fauna filled the air with aroma, all the surfaces were decked with flower arrangements, birds twittered over the casements and balconies. In icy winter, the walls of the palace looked like frost, the floors were like ice slabs, penguins on the balconies. In spring, the scent of fresh flowers filled the air with aroma, all the surfaces were decked with flower arrangements, birds twittered and trilled over the casements and balconies. One day, when the Sorcerer was in his Library teaching his apprentices a lesson on Pentacles on the autumnal yellow floor, the looking glass darkened ominously. All the windowpanes took the hue of blue-black ink in broad daylight. The glass orb darkened too, and smoke began swirling inside it like a churning tornado. The Sorcerer summoned a protective sphere shielding his young students and he himself strode over to the menacing, swirling orb. He recited in a singsong voice some incantation, and two burning, slanted eyes and a terrible mouth appeared within the orb. The Sorcerer turned pale, but the lines of his face became resolute and sharp. The horrible face looked at him, and said in a icy voice, "Usurper! I shall drive you out of my Palace. Your time has come." The sorcerer replied, "You belong to the Dark Depth. Go back, you have been banished by the OverLord for your wickedness." The Sorcerer slashed at the apparition with his wand and lightning cracked at its wake! Because of that, it seemed, that the Shade vanished and everything returned to normal. The Sorcerer summoned the elves into the Library. Then he started an elaborate ritual. the students drew a very complicated Pentacle at his instruction, then the Elves and the Sorcerer started incantations with burning of incense and candles. This went on for hours Until finally, the candles burned fiercely bright and the incantations reached a pitch. Then a bright sphere of light appeared at the centre of the Pentacle. Everyone sat down in prayer and a pleasant but powerful voice boomed, " Have no fear. You have kept the health of the seasons, they dance happily through your walls and casements. This is the ultimate Spell of Life. The Fume of the Dark Depth will never win. He may threaten, but be united as you are now. He will never regain his power to destroy the beautiful Earth. Once upon a time there was a parallel universe. Please understand - we use the term Once upon a time for two purposes. The first is because on your Earth, in your time, this phrase is commonly used by humans to signal that the Chai’lle (storyteller collective) about to tell you of things which happened BEFORE. The second reason we say Once upon a time, is that if you are approved to leave this Kdhaisch (sacred hut) to go our world you will associate everything you see as belonging to the era which came BEFORE in your world. You will observe no iPods, earbuds, electronic tablets, or computers here. There are no smart phones with their related Apps, no home appliances or nor any electronics. We have clouds in multiplicity, but not Cloud system. We travel without the aid of motorized vehicles and flying contraptions. There are no artificial heaters or coolers, no power plants, no windmills or solar panels. We have no toilets, no sewage stations, and no water treatment plants. To wit, everything you use to run your modern world does not exist here and couldn’t function properly even if it did. You are going to ask us, as your kind always do - How came you to be here? Our answer is that we know not. Everyday, another of your kind arrives, in a hut such as this. It seems the Kdhaisch is a por-tal of which draws entices some of you, drawing you here. Some of you have told us the por-tal functions much the way your STONEHENGE does on your Earth. Do you know of this STONEHENGE? Yes? Ah, good. Came you through it to arrive here? No? Alas, many of you did not. We have wondered, how is it some of your kind know of your PLACES OF POWER, while others do not? Others of you dispute that there even are PLACES OF POWER…but we digress. It is of no importance for the moment; it is a matter for those greater ourselves or even the of Chai’lle, besides. One day, “we will talk of many things/shoes, ships, sealing wax and kings”. You know this reference? Excellent. We are amused by your Chai’lle LEW-IS CARR’OLL. We have been made to understand that he is not a collective, but a single entity, a WAL-RUSCAR-PENTER! A most amusing creature, to be sure. Forgive us, yet again, we digress. It is something of a character flaw for us. For now, we must help you to understand the situation in which you find yourself. You have been transported to our eArth for a purpose we know not yet. Because of that, there are RULES you must be made aware of and live by, ‘til your purpose for BEING is clear. The premier, vitally important rule is that for the moment, the Kdhaisch is your home. You must not attempt to leave it. You must trust us when we tell you that to leave before preparations for your Ny’Imeptae (embracing) are complete will be fatal for you because you will die. Your premature departure will be inconvenient for us as your demise will cause a disruption the Riiesld. We’re told some from your world describe the Riiesld as ch'i. You are familiar with the term? Good, good. Many of your world fail to understand how actions they take in eArth affect us all. Disruptions can be calmed, but when your kind cause them through the willfull-est disobedience…well, this does not please us. Indeed, it pleases none of eArthskind. When eArthskind are displeased, our environments also become d ‘scli – unhappy. The next rule then, is you must try to curb the propensity of your kind to toward rebellion for the sake of rebellion. Again, disrupting the Riiesld, particularly for frivolous aims does not please eArthskind. When Riiesld grows fractious and needs soothing it demand sacrifices of eArthskind. The sacrifices are often more punitive and exacting than your kind can be made to fathom aforehand. Bringing Hei’Nyopti (balance) back to eArth is always achieved in the end, but as another of your single entity Chai’lle - Lady Antebellum says, “It Ain’t Pretty”. During your stay in the Kdhaisch, you must attempt to learn our language. That is why we give you our words, freely. Rest assure, eArth is your world now you are here. There is no return of your kind to Earth once you have come through the por-tal. Others have not believed us when we tell them thus. Please to live, you must believe, your departure from eArth, indeed your departure from the Kdhaisch will only transpire as a result of your Ny’Imeptae into eArth or your death at the hands of eArth. Would that we could return you to your Earth we would. Less would be the disruption of our own eArth. Your Ny’Imeptae will happen when you love eArth and eArthskind, when eArth has found your Hu-Maaure (personal harmonic destiny) and you go willingly to your path. Your kind often thinks that eArthskind rather than is finding your Hu-Maaure for you. It will be difficult for you to walk the path if this thinking takes root and persists in you. We have no priests, no clergy, no shamans. There are no kings, politicians or nation states. There are no military entities, or law enforcement units. No thought leaders, no business tycoons. There are we, eArthskind - Chai’lle, j’ooshme (healers) and Osjikatee (makers). We give each other what we need. eArth gives us all else. You must mourn for your losses. Grieve for those you’ll see no more. Invite many into your Kdhaisch as you seek your new path. Many will befriend you, all can instruct you. All can gain instruction from you. You must study diligently. Learn well and learn more and more and more. Immerse yourself in the eArth and gradually let go of Earth. As your grief lessons, you will become scli – happy. Until finally, eArth will pronounce your preparations completed and all eArthskind will embrace you. You will emerge from your Kdhaisch forever, Then will be your Fui Ny’Imeptae, Embracing ceremony. You will only ever return to this Kdhaisch to guide another Earthling to the path. At such a time as that, you will explain to the new arrival as we have explained to you: By:everyjones

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Lizzy, who lived with her mother in a cardboard box just big enough for two. Every day Lizzy and her mother would pack up their few belongings, fold the box neatly, and head off to a new location. One day while Lizzy’s mother was away looking for food, Lizzy found a box of crayons. She wanted to surprise her mother by decorating their box, so she colored the outside of the box blue. I think it needs some lines to make it look like bricks, Lizzy thought. She then colored green grass along the bottom. Yellow flowers were drawn onto small window planters beneath cut out windows, and to Lizzy, it looked perfect. On the walls inside the box, she drew family photos in bright picture frames. Her mother’s favorite color was purple, so she used a violet crayon to draw a large rug by the front entrance. She stepped outside to look at her creation. “What a beautiful cardboard kingdom,” she said as she went back inside. Their home looked so different. Because of that, when Lizzy’s mother returned to where they had placed their box, she began pacing around in a panic. Lizzy was watching her from the small cutout window, not understanding why she looked so scared. Her mother paced and paced, until finally, she caught a glimpse of Lizzy looking through the window. Relief flooded through her as she made her way to her daughter. “It seems you’ve been rather busy today,” said Lizzy’s mother. “Yes mommy. I’ve built us our very own cardboard kingdom.” Lizzy wasn’t sure, but she thought she saw a tear fall down her mother’s cheek as she stepped inside onto the colorful purple rug. “A kingdom indeed, my child… A kingdom indeed.” By:Sandy Aspen

Once upon a time there was a growing hunger. Like most hungers, it was ill defined, known more for what it wasn’t than what it was. Everyday, the hunger grew until it coalesced into an idea. The idea was called “freedom.” Wise men gathered and pledged their lives and fortunes to making the idea reality. One day, after much discussion and argument, they declared a new, independent nation founded on the idea: the United States of America. Because of their devotion and vision, the country grew and prospered. The people became strong and enjoyed the fruits of their labors. Until finally, the idea faded, complacency set in, and the hunger returned. The people were to that their hunger would be satisfied with a slogan: “Make America Great Again.” No one asked, “Why did it have to be again?” By:🌜 HuntersMoon

Once upon a time, there was an unusual book. It looked like other books, but there was an exception. Everyday, its content changed. Some pages were born, some disappeared, some remained stable. Their number always was the same: 1758. Whoever opened the book could read a story in their native language. And the story was so fascinating that the person could not stop reading until they fall dead from exhaustion. Many people tried to destroy the book but it had a secret power. When someone touched it, it opened a special page, and one glance was enough for the person to forget about everything and start reading. After that, they were as good as dead. One day, an old man approached the book. Long he stroked it with his gentle fingers, touched its rough cover with the tenderness of a lover. Because of that, the book could not open its tricky page. The book gathered all its patience and waited. The old man stepped back and started making a campfire. The fire did not scare the book: it had seen a lot of flames. It launched it's trap and lay still. It was waiting and giggling silently, and the old man was messing around with the cruller. Until finally, he took the book and threw it into the fire. Once upon a time there was a half man, but mostly boy-child who wandered forth on his own, ready to conquer the world the way his father, and father’s father did. Everyday, he would suit up in the suit and tie up in the tie, and look to the mirror and ask the often unrecognizable face there-in if today was the day, or if another narrow miss at betterment awaited. One day, after one of those kind of nights were he thought he was a knight until he woke up feeling battered and discarded (and disregarded) like the tin man’s heart, the mirror answered, “to thine own self be true,” or maybe it was an old Bob Seger tune, that landed him in his own personal hell/Kathmandu. Because of that, he tore off his tie and dropped his suit in a corner and decided to write the next great novel that would show the lost generation the path to their own destiny. Until finally, between typewriter bells and red slashed pen-strokes, he realize the face in the mirror, was really the faces of his family, and you and me, and all who have realized we can only conquer the world if we stay within the accepted margins. Once upon a time, there was a girl who always ate cookies, all day and night. She will make sure she left no trace of biscuits on her dishes before she heads to bed and sleeps. Every day she will be following that routine.
A man came towards her and dropped on one knee and open a Cartier box and revealed a diamond ring surrounded with gold. It was so bright and beautiful, and on the cushion, it had bits of cookies, her mother's best dish-- actually the only dish her mother mastered.
One day, however, that all changed and it was her wedding day. Her acquaintance, her family, her friends, her husband's family and friends and what she will like to call the ones-you-invite-just-to-fill-the-place people. After her wedding she never touched a biscuit, neither in a house or a restaurant; it was as if it will infect her with a virus that she will never get treated from. On her wedding day, the seats looked like double chocolate-chip cookies whilst the tables looked like raisin biscuits and the background and the music was not one she is used to listen to on a regular day, the music was of food and it seemed to be for children. The crowd were not laughing with her at this ridiculous theme, they were laughing at her. Because of that, she hated her life and the biscuits and never wanted to do anything with them. She did not complete her wedding; she did not get to the man, or who she thought as the one. She came to the conclusion that it is impossible for anyone to admire her or love her, because she is obsessed with the cookies, the only dish her mother mastered, and the last dish her mother made. She kept crying in her room all day long, hoping that all of this will end, but to her, it felt like it was eternity. Until finally, one day, a kid knocked on her door, he was tiny, a fragile, little boy who looks lost, but his mother was behind him, and he came inside the room whilst his mother waited outside and told her, "You are amazing, Claudia. Your mother is proud of you." He said laughing, but she realised he was not laughing at her, but he was laughing to make her smile, and she did smile. She felt the happiness that he was trying to send to her. She looked at him and told him, "Tom, thank you for making me smile, but nobody loves me, I mean, I will never get married..." She was beginning to sob, but Tom sat with her on the bed and traced away the tears on her red cheeks. "That is not true, you know, I love you. The others are just stupid, they think you are crazy for loving your mother, but you are not, you are precious and my mother and I will continue to love you!" He said it with complete determination, as if any word she will say next, will not make any difference to him. "Your love is all I need." She said with a smile, "However, Tom, I decided to leave, I am sorry." Claudia, a beautiful young lady, who weighted 54kg, with a height of 162cm, died because of the people's mocking. She committed suicide... "She will be happy now, Mother." Tom said. By:Shaima

Once upon a time there was a single cell, which began to divide. Quickly it doubled again and again until, in the dark recesses of a subterranean cavity a sound was heard. A clicking, as of claws, echoed from rock walls and a tiny cough momentarily purged the surrounding shadows. A humid mist surrounded a bulky form and from behind the dragging rumble, like a log bouncing along the rocky floor. Everyday, for days on end, the sounds grew less faint, more clear as the creature came ever near. One day, a glow began to hint at the cavern's end and he grew impatient as the light became more bright. At last he lumbered into sight. The view was brilliant, filled with light, and space and magical sense of sight, as golden beams of sun rebound from jewel-like flowers and verdant ground. Entranced by beauty all around the creature breathed in air so pure that, even though his bellowed lungs were filled with smoke, he felt cleansed and belched a small smoke ring that rose until it could be seen above the glade. Because of that, a sudden flutter of a hundred tiny wings, air bound, drew his attention from the ground. As his lidded eyes cast up he saw the fliers grouped in units, military garbed their armor flashing, swords in hand they awaited slashing. He, the newly hatched one drew a breath and unknowing opened wide a mouth so vicious that it daunted all and sundry, but instead of fire and lashing talons he smiled which released the heavy tension and the Queen, with guard attended, welcomed dragon if his intention was as friend and not destruction. The new-hatched one was truly awesome in his own right, and ancient wisdom held in his lineage told him of the debt he owed the fairy folk from ages past and bending scaled leg he bowed and fealty he vowed. The Queen accepted his obeisance and forged a bond, with fay-magic amended by the dragons power, and so ascended to her bower. The dragon, even though newly made, held ancient knowledge and was content to dwell here in the magic glade until finally, eons hence, he turned to prince and Queen he wed, to sire a new age of wondrous beings to rule the then-world and thus begins the last age of magic. Once upon a time there was a little girl who found a fuzzy orange and black caterpillar on the driveway of her home. She gently picked it up and placed it on a flowering bush in the back yard. Everyday, the little girl hunted the branches f the bush until she located the fluffy caterpillar, to ensure herself it was alive and well. One day, regardless of how hard she searched, she was unable to locate it. Because of that, she began to whimper, then cry as she searched more frantically. Until finally, her father came outside to see what had her so distraught. When she shared her story with him, he smiled and began a search of his own. A few moments later, he spied what he was searching for, and pointed it out to his daughter. Once upon a time there was a horse called Peg. Everyday, Marian looked at him and thought how much she would like to ride him but that was against the rules. She changed his bedding, groomed him and refilled his manger with oats. When she could, she brought him a carrot though this was another thing that was against the rules. One day, Marian came up from her underground cell and hurried to the hay store near the guardhouse. The sun had not yet risen over the high walls. "Dia ruit, dial ruit."
Marian cocked her head. "Oh, itps you." A cheeky blackbird was sitting on the portcullis. "You're brave today! We don't normally see you near the soldiers." Where were the soldiers? She looked aroundbthe silent keep. None of your business lass. The voice in her head wad her mothers. She shrugged, pulled one of the heavy bales out of the store and began dragging it over the icy flags.
Suddenly Peg's feet clattered noisily on the cobbles. He winied reared up and kicked the stabke door. She ran to the stable and clutched for the bridle. "Woah, steady boy." Holding the bridle firmly Marian and began to sing in her soft lilting voice. The sound soothed them both. When he was quiet she patted him gently and tied the leather cords by the stable door. Something made her look up. A black stain smudges the sky. Fear gripped her. Because of that, she ran across the straw strewn court and up the narrow stone steps. Smoke! She could smell it before she was halfway up the tower. She tumbled out onto the parapet lungs burning and red faced. The stamp of feet and clash of swords was louder than even her panting. They were coming up the road from the river. About thirty of the provost's men. Her eyes rested on an untidy red stain near the crossing untidy red stain. That explained what had happened to the castle guard. A grim hand clutched at her heart. They would do what they had done in Avalon. Pethaps the back way? Escape... As she ran frantically she round the battlements she saw the notion was futile. Companies of grim men approached on all sides. She ran back down into the court. Unhitched Peg and leapt on. The horse tossed his head "I know it's not allowed," said Marian soothingly. The horse tossed his head. "No, there's no time for a saddle." Apparently satisfied Peg turned readying himself. Picking his line. Marian kissed his mane and gave a gentle nudge with her feet. Peg leapt forward, striding ever faster, his hooves raising sparks on the cobbles. Until finally, spreading his wings Pegasus took to the air while below the soldiers cursed and clashed their spears and gnashed their teeth in impotent anger. By:RobMcGee

Once upon a time there was a quaint little corner lunch deli on the corner of Washington and LaSalle. Those days, downtown was a little harder. Sure there was big buildings and important people, but big shoulders aside, you had to watch yourself a bit. Still, past a couple boarded up shops and a pawn shop was this deli. Man, I know it doesn't make sense, but this place didn't even have walls. I mean, I'm sure it did, but you knew were there when the acrid exhaust fumes you were smelling changed into this aromatic smell of fresh bread. You look up at that point and there it is. This panorama of cute tables, single cut flowers, red table clothes and people with smiles in conversations. It was a great place, just a little oasis for a bit until you had to head back to your office or job site. Everyday, though, if you were one of the last ones to get your food, you were in for a treat. They say it started to let everyone know it was time to go home, but once the sandwiches were made, the slicer cleaned off and the kitchen put back in order, Vila, a petite Irish lady, would emerge from the din to the nearest vacant tables with two slender iced teas with straws. Inside Chapelle, a wiry Algerian man with a fast smile would flip through a small collection of records near the door, decide upon one, and let it play. This became the entertainment. Each day the approach, sometimes warmly greeted, sometimes coyly scoffed at, but step one was always getting a seat at the table. As they sat at the table across from each other, eventually they would hold hands, securing step 2. Finally, at some point, Chapelle would lead Vila to the awning, and they would dance. Step 3. They were one of those cute couples that moved a little faster when they were young, but you just loved to see them dancing. Finally, one would ask the other if they did good that day, and the answer was always that we did good, ending in an embrace. I'm not sure when it started, but the regulars would clap, clear their tables and all would go home for the day. As the years passed, Vila would come out a little earlier, and Chapelle slowly hired a few people. Eventually they began to come only to end the day. One day, Chapelle arrived very late, and in a dark suit. Apparently he hadn't been in for a few days. He went in and the staff hurried to hug him and give him an iced tea. He sat at the nearest table alone, putting together photos of themselves over the years. Scrapbooking their lives. Because of that, there was no music. I was worried he might close the place, but he didn't. He just sat outside and enjoyed his tea an scrapbooked his life. Until finally, Kevin, a long time regular who washed windows on the skyscrapers come up to Chapelle. "Mr. Chapelle, I have a favor to ask. I've got a real special lady meeting me here for lunch today, and I was hoping you might be able to help me out with one of your best songs." If a smile could ever be a thousand yard stare, it was there. The smile soon won out, and soon the men were deep in conspiracy. Hands were animated and both men laughed. A wisp of a lady approached, her face framed with curly red hair offset with green emerald eyes that couldn't help but be noticed. The two greeted her and Chapelle retired to just inside the store. In a few moments, a quite bump accompanied the croon of Louis Armstrong. The two held hands, and after a time, got up to dance under the awning. As Louis was about to explain his loss of New Orleans, Kevin kneeled before his love, and proposed. Cheers from around went up at the sound of the yes. Before the two were ready to depart, Kevin asked Chapelle one last time. Chapelle, did I do good today? Yes, we both did good today. By:Syrek

Once upon a time there was a pair of elite. One named Desire, and the other named Self, trying desperately to pound the square peg of license to sin, into the round hole of righteousness.

Every day, they took turns swinging away at the highly-polished peg of license. The round hole of righteousness would not, however permit the peg of license to enter. Not even a little.

While the round hole looked soft and malleable, it proved to be quite the opposite. Founded as it was upon the Rock, showing itself to be quite impervious to the repeated attentions of Desire and Self.

Each time Desire and Self seemed to make some progress in the driving of the square peg, the Rock upon which the round hole was founded would lend its strength and the peg would be ejected. As the Rock reigned in righteousness, license could find not a single toehold.

To Desire and Self, this seemed harsh, intolerant, and therefore hateful. They could not conceive of Love that would dare to restrain the passions of their flesh. This intolerance they would not tolerate.
One day, the insatiable elite of Desire and Self, hit upon an idea. Let us ask the great man, Evil Influence to see if he can assist us upon our chosen course. For we are determined to drive this peg, and he, being a great man, must surely have power in the swinging of the hammer. So, they did as they saw fit, calling the great man, Evil Influence to bear upon the project. Evil Influence then performed a thorough inspection at what Desire and Self had been laboring at, lo these many years. Because of that, he decided to impart advice: “You fools!" He bellowed at Desire and Self. “If you want that shiny square peg implanted deeply and firmly into that ugly round hole you must not pound away on it like brute beasts. You must rather cause the round hole of righteousness to accept the square peg of license with subtlety and finesse. So long as the round hole of righteousness is founded upon that Rock, you will never overcome its strength to resist you.

But come now, the great man, Evil Influence cooed. Listen to me. I will tell you how to lure them away from the Rock upon which they are founded. We must first convince them that true righteousness lies elsewhere. Oh yes! I know all too well that a small number, who cling, deeply rooted in the Rock, will always inhabit the round hole of righteousness and they will never abandon the Rock. But, with cunning and clever words that appeal to the flesh, many others who are lightly rooted, can be enticed away to a different gospel. They can then be made to see the Love and Righteousness of the Rock as mere "tolerance" and "accommodation" of un-righteousness. Indeed, I may be so bold as to say that some will even call the good, evil, and the evil, good. When this happens, you will see the peg of license penetrate so deep that the round hole of righteousness will seem to not only embrace the square peg of license but will begin to conform itself to the pegs shape, encouraging others to do the same. Indeed, opined the great man Evil Influence, if you use my methods, many who now rest lightly rooted upon the Rock, will gradually abandon Him. I tell you, at that time, no hammer will be required. Until finally, they will begin to draw the square peg of license into themselves with their own hands, teaching others to do the same. Yet here is the slickest, most slippery aspect of my genius. I, the great man Evil Influence will convince them that to abandon the Rock and receive the square peg of license is out of love for the lost and dying world. Am I not clever? As they reject Righteousness in favor of license to sin, the Rock will be unable to impart his strength to them. Righteousness indeed continues to Reign in the Rock, but no longer in those who reject Him. And you my good friends, Desire and Self, will become their new gods.” By:J.Lynn Lindsay

Once upon a time there was a pup named Norah. Norah Bones. Every day, Norah woke up licking the undead face of her human. Not surprisingly, this would be about two hours before her human’s alarm clock would go off every morning. This was a futile attempt to her get her breakfast two hours earlier than the agreed upon time. One day, before the agreed upon time, one of the other humans in Norah Bone’s home put an extra special topping on top of her breakfast. Yoghurt. Because of that, Norah would refuse to eat her food unless there was a little extra on top. A battle ensued. A battle between Norah and her human. A battle that would last months. Norah would hold out for those extra toppings. Yoghurt, bone broth, or straight up chicken liver. Meals would only ever be eaten if she could eat them like the royalty that she was is. However, her human felt differently. For whatever absurd reason. In her mind, there was no reason good enough to withhold these delectable delicacies from her bowl! So Norah would refuse to even take a taste. She would shove the food around in her bowl, making sure her human knew what she was looking for. If it was not to be found, then she was not to be eating this…bland dish. Some days she would cover the food with a blanket so that she didn’t have to look at it, or even tip the bowl over! Until finally, her human had had quite enough. Norah’s human did the one last thing she could think of. She made Norah eat with the insatiable bulldog that belonged to the other humans in the house. If Norah was not going to eat her food, then SOMEONE should. Why not the lovely, dieting, and hungry Ella B? At first Norah thought to call her humans bluff, but the faster Ella ate, and eyed her bowl the more nervous Norah began to be. She soon no longer heard the snuffling snorting of a feeding Ella, and she saw her lumbering over to her very own bowl licking her chops. Norah’s faced dived into her bowl, scarfing down every last piece of kibble. She looked up after she felt a pat on her back for finishing her food. Ella stared at the empty bowl in what was clearly disappointment. Ever since that day Norah eats with Ella and is the first to finish her food, with the occasional topping. By:Ruby_MyDear

Once upon a time there was a boy, obsessed with the idea of flying. Everyday, he would look up at the sky, imagining that he would freely soar the skies, cutting into clouds and wander wherever his heart felt like going to. He was distracted with the idea so much, he would just stare out of the school windows blankly, failing his subjects one after another. His parents were furious, thinking he was just being lazy. Soon though, they became a bit more anxious about his mental health. He was taken to a psychologist, who said he's just a bit off the ground, but nothing more. One day, he the boy saw an advertisement in the TV about joining the Air Force. Naturally, he was so excited, he tried going to an airbase, talking to everyone he could to try and make an application. After about a month, he was finally getting a position, letting him go on an interview. Because of that, he learnt day and night to get the best possible results he could. Of course, his natural talent and knowledge didn't stop him from getting a pilot's licence soon enough. Months fly by with simulation, classes and more tests. Until finally, he took off with his wingmates one day. Staring to the sides, he felt the G force push him into the seat while the aircraft lifted off the ground. It was a wonderful feeling. Lian finally felt...free. By:Ampho

Once upon a time there was a boy named Kipper. Everyday Kipper promised to do better and better at whatever thing he better do. One day his mother took him aside. She said she knew he was better than the bitter truth being buttered up by Peal Maybe who had a crush on him. Surely the girl constantly beckoning Kipper's attention had not got the best of him. "Looks aren't everything and if you think they are you'd best clean your glasses." Because of that motherly advice Kipper bettered himself by becoming a brilliant bifocal eyeglass cleaner during his next bi-annual visit to his Best Buy optometrist's business office. With his new vision on life, he grew less interested in Pearl Maybe's eye-catching ways until finally he gave up that glassy-eyed look and became infatuated with new contacts prescribed by Betty Bentley, the optometrist's new assistant who made googly eyes with him happily ever after. Once upon a time, there was an insect named Willie, (he thought he must be a worm but wasn't sure.) All he knew he crawled along the ground like a snake but was so much smaller. Being so small gave him a complex and he just knew no one liked him because he was such a lowly worm. Everyone else was taller than he was and always looked down on him and he was always having to look up, this made him feel very low._He wanted so much to be as tall as a limb on a tree or even as big as a moose with antlers. What a dream that would be, everyone would move out of the way when Willie the moose came around. "Yeah, that's what he wanted, all the animal world and insects to treat him with respect for after all even though he was very small he had a very big intelligence and that's what kept him going. His friends all told him to have big expectations, so that's what he began to believe, someday he just knew he would grow bigger. Everyday, he would go out walking and spend a lot of time just looking up at all the beauty around him and that always made him feel so much better. One day, Wille started to feel very strange not like himself at all. Like something really big was going to happen. Because of that, he had an inner feeling to build a special kind of house and soon he went inside that house and went into a deep sleep. Until finally, he woke up and his house was no longer there and he fell to the ground. Willie then noticed that he no longer looked the same as before, something magnificent had happened to him. "Oh My," said Willie, "I have grown beautiful wings," He was bewildered! He began to use his wings to fly, high above every limb on a tree, and also above all the animals on the ground. He couldn't believe his luck. "Yes," said Willie, "that's all you need, high expectations, why just look at me." All his friends were looking at him and admiring him and waving at him from below. "I've turned into a beautiful butterfly and I can see the world now from on high." Morale of this story, yes most often there are moral's of stories as this one. So if your not happy who you are change and become something even better. By:Star*

Once upon a time there was a young girl named Rose. Rose was a person who was loved by almost everyone. Everyday, she would go to the school with a smile on her face. She lived in a beautiful house with a wonderful family in Italy. One day, she went to the school and found out there was a new student. The new student’s name was Katherine. Being a nice girl, Rose went up to Katherine and introduced herself. Rose helped Katherine with her school works and they both became friends and then best friends. Rose was extremely happy because Katherine was her first best friend. One day, when she was going to the washroom, a lot of people stared at her weirdly. When she was eating, she opened her phone and found a notice in the school forum. Rose was shocked when she found out that the notice was about her. Rose suddenly burst into tears and ran home crying and she didn’t come out of her room for almost 2 days. She was mostly sad because she really did stole money but it was like 10 years ago and she did it to help a person who was starving and the teacher found out and appreciated though the stealing part she did was bad but it was to help a person so the teacher didn’t care about it. Slowly she calmed herself down and thought who might have spread the rumor then she remembered telling it to Katherine. Rose felt really heartbroken because Katherine was her friend and it never crossed her mind that,Katherine would do something like this. Rose got depressed and Katherine started bullying her at school. Because of that Katherine began to hate school. One evening, when she came back home she found out that, her family went bankrupt. Until finally, she went for a walk and found a notice on the ground, it was about an examination to study abroad. She decided to attend the exam but when the results came she somehow failed. She went home feeling sad but she didn’t loose hope so she studied really hard and went to attend the exam again, during the 2nd examination on the hall she met Josh. Josh was a rude, spoiled rich kid. He looked like as if he was forced to write the exam. When Rose was trying to locate her seat, she accidentally spilled coffee all over his shirt and his bag. He got really mad and yelled at her until he felt happy. Rose hated rude people but she endured and apologised to him. With a really bad mood, Rose took the exam and went home thinking that she’s gonna again. Though she passed the exam but the marks weren’t good enough for her to leave the country so she was asked to attend a remedial class. Rose went to the class like she was asked to. While entering her class the only thought in her mind was “I need to win”. Later when she was busy studying, a random guy entered the class room and sat near her. The guy suddenly looked at her and said “you again”. Rose looked at him and remembered that he was the guy who yelled at her AKA Josh. They both hated each other at first but both of them were coincidentally always together. But as they kept seeing each other more often both of them started to build a connection. Months went by and somehow Rose and Josh started dating and became the couple who can’t ever breathe without seeing each other. Their final examination came and Rose passed with high marks and Josh passed with normal marks. Rose got Canada and Josh got Australia so they were both sad about it. On the plane Rose sat feeling really sad then a guy sat next to her and said “you again”, Rose remembered Josh’s voice and without even looking at the person’s face she started crying and hugged him. Then he explained to her it that he convinced his father to change his destination to Canada. Until finally they happily sat on the plane knowing they are gonna be together forever and lived happily ever after.

Once upon a time, there was a young girl, maybe around the age of thirteen, who wanted to soar through the stars and gain her name. Every night she'd watch her five older brothers dance and glide across the night sky. Dusk, the eldest, would go out and turn the sky all purplish and pinkish. Twilight, the second oldest, came out to make the stars laugh and play, making them light up the sky. Comet, the middle child, flung the meteors to the ends of the Earth, causing them to catch fire. Midnight, the fourth brother, dragged his fingers through the sky and turned it pitch black. The last brother, Dawn, turned the sky from the pitch black to orange and yellow. Everyday, the little girl would fall asleep dreaming of shooting stars and bright laughter, and every night, she'd stare up in awe at her brothers, working and playing and laughing as one big family. This brought sadness and pangs of loneliness to the girl's heart. One day, before she fell asleep, she saw more kids flying through the sky, bringing morning to the world. She wasn't surprised, her brothers did it every night, but she was startled to see another boy her age trying to fly like his siblings. He'd jump into the sky, as high as he could, and would rake his fingers through the clouds, creating shapes in the fluff. Because of this, that night she jumped into the sky and touched one of the meteors making it brighter than the rest. So every night she'd jump up and tough the same meteor, and every night, it grew bigger and bigger and bigger. Until finally, she jumped up into the sky and stayed there, right beside her family. Her family smiled and looked at her handiwork, and gave her a name that made her glow brighter than any star.....Her name was moon, and she glowed like an angel. By:Queenie Saturns

Once upon a time there was a lonely old couple living deep in the woods. Everyday they would pray for a child. Never blessed, they were so lonesome and yearned for a child to love and bring joy to their home. One day, Fran saw a shooting star and made a wish. "You're just and old fool," Franklin said. "Our time for having a child passed years ago." "You just don't believe strong enough," insisted Fran. It looked like it landed in the woods not far from their home. While Franklin napped, Fran walked into the woods to find it. After walking about twenty minutes, she saw a small basket hanging from a tree branch and rushed up to investigate. Inside the basket was the tiniest baby she ever saw. She gently picked up the tiny infant. As she inspected her, she noticed two little pink wings on her back. She hugged her as tight as she dared, then placed the tiny baby back in the basket for the journey home. Franklin was stunned as his wife showed him the tiny child. They both knelt in prayer, giving thanks for the one blessing they had always desired. Because of that, they were happy and content the rest of their lives, They named the child Twinkles. As she grew up, to a total of seven inches, she continued to bring the couple joy everyday. Even at that size, she was a great help. She could fly up and knock the juiciest apple from the top of the tallest tree. She was always there to return a fallen baby bird to it's nest unharmed and in the kitchen, she loved to help stir the big pot on the stove. All she had to do was hold the spoon and fly around in circles. Until finally the couple grew old. Twinkle was aging also. She explained to them that she was there to bring them joy for the rest of their lives. They would not have to worry about her when they were gone. She would be sent to another family praying for a child. There was always a very long waiting list. Feeling relieved about not having to leave the child they loved so much alone, they finally decided it was time for them to rest. Because of Twinkle, they had enjoyed long and happy lives. As they lay in their final resting place, Twinkle starting collecting wild flowers. Once upon a time there was a man named Tag who came to the park every morning at 8:00 am. Everyday, Tag sat on the same bench watching the clouds roll by, people walk their dogs, and children play in the park. One day, a man sat down beside him and asked, “how are you doing today Tag?” Tag looked at him with a frown and his bushy white eyebrows pulled together. How did this man know his name? The man next to him smiled back kindly, “you’ve been here for a while, we were starting to get worried”. Tag took in the man’s clothes, they were all one color and slightly wrinkled. Did he know this man? The man used his hands to push off his knees and stood up in one motion. “I think Evelyn mentioned something about making apple pie, we might want to get going before she decides to eat it all herself” the man said with a chuckle. Tag felt a surge of happiness and could picture a face before it quickly faded away. Tag frowned at his lap trying to hold onto the image, but it slipped away like water through open fingers. Tag glanced up at the dark-haired man who waited expectantly. Because of that, that picture which Tag could barely remember, he used great effort and gently set himself on his feet. Tag shuffled to face the man until finally, he looked up and asked, “Do I know you?”. The man smiled and cryptically replied, “Somedays you do, but you can get to know me better on the walk back to see Evelyn”. Tag’s heart gave a squeeze and he nodded his head. He would go with this man. If his heart moved so much in only hearing her name, Tag could only imagine the feelings he would experience when he saw this “Evelyn” By:B.C. West

Once upon a time, there was a frog sitting in a tree whittling on a low hanging branch, when along came a big hairy spider smoking a huge brown cigar with a shiny golden ring around its middle and as he strained his eyes to see what the frog was creating with his blade, a woodpecker landed beside the frog wondering what he was staring so intently at. Everyday, after that day, the spider and the woodpecker came to watch the frog whittle on the limb and to speculate with each other how the frog could be creating something even more artistically significant if he would only whittle it this way or that way differently. One day, during an agitated discussion, the spider poked his cigar into the woodpecker's eye. Because of that, and in retaliation, the woodpecker jumped into the air and dive-bombed the spider, stabbing and stabbing him over and over with his beak. Until finally, the frog rolled over with a final breath and the woodpecker fell to the ground in complete exhaustion and at that same moment, the frog whittled his last stroke with his blade and the naked branch fell to the ground with a crash, "I'm glad that's done. Once upon a time, there was a prisoner, Thomas Morrow, who had made many mistakes and wanted to change his life for the better. Everyday, he thought about the pain and suffering he had caused people that he loved, and made plans for redeeming himself. He knew it would be difficult to survive when he was released from prison because he had burned so many bridges, but he was determined and never lost hope.
One day, near his release, he received a visitor who offered him a job abroad. Instinctively, Thomas did not trust this visitor. Why would a stranger visit him in prison and offer him a job, unless it was a very undesirable job? The job was indeed undesirable; he would be smuggling amphetamine into and out of northern Thailand. He didn't want to take the job because he had promised himself to be a better person, but he also knew he had limited options and this job could provide him with opportunities to do better things.
Because of that, he took the job offer. When he was released from prison, he immediately boarded a flight to Chiang Mai. His new employer was very well connected and provided Thomas with everything he could possibly ask for. Thomas made a few successful runs from Thailand to the US and back. Things were going very smoothly for him, and it seemed that he could slide back into his criminal lifestyle for good and forget everything he had thought about in prison, but he had a voice deep down inside of him that kept reminding him of what he needed to do.
Until finally, he could no longer ignore the voice. He had been visiting a local Buddhist monastery near his home in Chiang Mai and talking to the monks. He always felt very moved by their discussions and now he made the decision to ordain. He went into the bathroom and shaved his head. He was worried about the possible danger of quitting his job without informing his employer, but when he saw himself in the mirror, he felt all the hope and determination from his time in prison rushing back into him and giving him new life. He knew he was making the right decision. By:Miss Cellar Door

Once upon a time there was a young girl who was wondering around lost inside her own head. She always wondered where she belongs. Not many people liked her. Her own family didn’t care for her much. The always told her she wasn’t enough and that she wouldn’t belong anywhere or be loved. Now at fourteen she tries her hardest to fit in. Everyday this young girl would walk down her secret path that she thought no one knew about. Well one day someone had followed this young girl intrigued by the fact that she rarely speaks to anyone and she is always alone. The young girl was walking down her path when she out of nowhere she heard a girls voice saying, “hey… why are you always alone?” she was startled frozen in place. She slowly turned around to see a beautiful girl around her age. Not knowing what to say she stayed quiet. The girl who had startled her spoke again, “It’s okay you do not need to be afraid of me I will not hurt you. I’m sorry for startling you if I did. I just always see you by yourself and it made me sad to see someone walking around all the time completely alone I have been watching you for a while my name is Sarah what’s yours?” Finally the young girl responded quietly with nervousness apparent in her voice, “it’s okay that you scared me. I am not used to people approaching me let alone following me to a secluded area where I could easily be killed and forgotten. I am Ashland.” Sarah stood there in shock as she looked Ashland from head to toe taking in how beautiful this girl was and couldn’t believe what she had said. Sarah took another moment before responding to what she had just heard. “Ashland how can you say you could be forgotten so easily? Plus you didn’t answer my first question,” stated Sarah. Ashland stood there looking at the ground avoiding all eye contact with Sarah trying to find a way to respond. She did not know what to tell her but she finally responded after a few minutes, “Sarah I’m always alone because people don’t like me and my family wants nothing to do with me. So there is the answer to both of your questions,” Ashland looked down at her feet tears starting to form. Sarah walked up and hugged Ashland she could feel her tensing. Sarah stood there silently holding Ashland until she felt her relax. Sarah spoke quietly, “Ashland would you like to meet my family and possibly start out fresh with a new life?” Ashland stayed quiet unsure how to respond because her life dream was being offered to her right here right now on her path she didn’t think anyone knew about. “Ash… would you like that,” asked Sarah. All Ashland could do was nod her head. Sarah gently grabbed her hand and guided her back to her family. Because of that, Ashland ended up living with Sarah and her family. She hadn’t ever been happier in life. Sarah and Ashland became very close over the years. Ashland saw her birth parents randomly one day and they begged her to come home saying they thought she was dead and that they were never going to see her again the only Ashland could state to them was, “you guy’s never cared about made me clean constantly treated me like I was nothing left me to fend for myself until a girl followed me one and offered me a new life you guys are nothing to me.” She turned to Sarah linking her arm with hers turned and walked away from her birth parents without looking back. Once upon a time there was a stray dog, looking for something to eat among the garbage in the neighborhood. His name was Buck and he remembered the day he was named Buck. Those were happy days where games and cuddles were never too many. How grand it would be! Being scratched behind the ears. Sleeping in a warm place again, with small hands resting on his head. Everyday, it was an adventure. He used to wait for the oldest kid in front of the school, because that is what good boys do. The happiness when she came out of the gate to greet him. So much love to give and take. One day, he remembers well, it was raining so much that his vision was blurred. So he could not really foresee it. So many times he thought about that day. What did go wrong? He was there to love and protect those children. Why did he not see it coming? The car was so fast and she was running, no umbrella, trying to reach him. She did not have time to realize what was happening, and he saw her: when the car hit her, she was still smiling. Everything happened so fast and nobody was paying attention to him. He was roughly pushed away, some weird people stood and other were crouched over her. They put some weird stuff on her and she jumped a little. Still he could not see. It was driving him insane. Someone with a firm grip was holding him back. He pulled and pulled, so he did the only thing he could do: he bit. Hard. He tasted blood and for a fraction of a second he enjoyed it. Then the pain and the darkness. As he woke up he was in some kind of cage. It was very cold and grey. The smell was so strange. There were other dogs barking madly while some of them just stared blankly at the wall. He started barking wildly until he fell asleep again. Tired, he felt so tired. He wanted to go home. He dreamt of home. Suddenly he was woken by a man. The door to the cage was open and at the same time the man was about to grab him, a huge dog in the other cage went mad. The man closed the door but he was too clumsy and careless. The door reopened. Because of that, he could flee. He does not remember well the minutes or hours he spent running. He ran through doors, rooms, legs. He bumped against walls, furniture, people trying to stop him. In a blur he was outside. The smell of freedom was overwhelming but he could not catch the one smell he was so desperately seeking. So he run, free and scared. Until finally, he came to a stop. The surroundings were unknown to him, but he found himself in a park. Everything was alive with laughter and cheerfulness. He saw children. How he loved those two-legged creatures. They were never afraid of him and always ready to scratch, kiss or play with him. He tried to get near, to sniff them, to lick them. Some older person shooed him away. He ran. He kept on running and sniffing. He would find home eventually. He was so sure. He could not have known that day, that after the accident, some guy packed him in a car and drove away. He could not have known that people paid well for a homeless dog. Those were the best to do experiments on and back then there were no tags, chip or tattoos. He could have not known that he was thousands of miles away from home, in some strange and cold city. He found something among the grass. Some food. It tasted funny, but he was so hungry. He fell. Asleep, down a black hole. He could see a fleeting light. Suddenly, he saw her. She was waiting for him, smiling. And he felt happy at last." By:KatiaGuido

Once upon a time there was a door between the worlds. It was not a secret. Everyday, people went through it - out, and back again. There was no limit to the number of times an individual could go through the door and no limit to the numbers of people who were allowed to go through. People simply showed up, queued quietly and respectfully, opened the door and went through. Eventually they came back. The shadows in the other world could not use the door in quite the same way. They lacked hands, or indeed any physicality but it was not a problem, because in any case they had no desire to go to the world they had left. For the people, the door was a comfort and a reminder that their loved ones had not altogether disappeared. It was enough, for many of them, that the door was there, when and if they needed it. One day, one of the people had what he thought was a good idea. 'We should charge people to use the door', he proclaimed. 'Not much - a small, token amount. Enough to show they respect the value of the door, and don't abuse the privilege." In fact, very few people ever misused the door. Occasionally, a group of young people would gather in the queue and egg each other on to run through the door but the other side presented very little excitement or opportunity for sport, and they grew bored more often than not. However, revenue is revenue and it quickly became accepted that you had to pay to use the door and if the new policy weeded anyone out it was those who were too poor to pay the penny to the doorman. Anyway, the people said, if you were too poor to pay, you probably had worse things to worry about than seeing your relatives or friends on the other side. Because of that, over time the people forgot that the door had once been there for anyone and everyone who needed it. It became, as the man had said, a privilege: something you had to pay for. A new market sprang up, with companies developing their own doors and offering season tickets to those who might wish to visit often. Stories began to circulate that some of these new doors were fake, and that the shadows on the other side were simply projections, and this caused people to start to doubt the reality of the door. The price began to rise - slowly at first and then more quickly so that it soon became a treat that very few people could afford. They would go instead to mediums: middlemen who would visit on behalf of a group of people, split the cost between them, and report back. Those who couldn't afford even that began to feel resentful and their resentment took the form of ridicule. They laughed at the people who still queued to use the door, calling them suggestible and idiots for believing in what anyone could see was a giant con-trick. "Ever heard of the Emperor's New Clothes?" was one newspaper headline. Until finally, there came a day when nobody queued to go through the door. The shadows waited for a while and then gradually dispersed. The people forgot about the door. But it is still there, somewhere, and those who know its whereabouts have learned to keep quiet. By:1974janeen

Once upon a time there was a happy, confident, and carefree girl. Everyday she would search for a man who could bring her even more happiness than what she already knew, realizing that true love was something everyone searches for. One day she met a boy who struck her fancy. She dated him for a while and thought everything was bliss, however soon she would find nothing was as it seemed. Try as she may, the boy was never happy with her, he would soon begin to speak nasty things to the girl, and she felt the need to keep exerting herself further and further to please him. But alas, he was still never pleased. His toxic attitude began to drain the girl of all of the happiness she had, until one day he hit her. With that blow to her body, he knocked the last bit of happiness from her soul, and she left him; broken and afraid. Because of that, the girl was no longer the confident, happy girl she once was. Her smiles were fake, and her sadness was seeping from her pores day by day as she tried to find herself again. Every day she remembered the harsh ways he spoke to her, she shuddered at the memory of his strike against her body. She blocked herself off from her family and friends, trying hard to hide her hatred of life, and her fear in trusting someone. Until finally, after years of self loathing and lonliness, she met a man who wanted to break her walls down. She warned him that she was broken, and threatened that he should keep away for she could not be loved. But this kind man kept trying, for he was in love with her eyes, and he was pained by her hurt. The more he spoke to her, the deeper he fell in love. Reluctantly she allowed him to begin chipping away at the walls she spent years building, chipping away at the self hate, and the saddness. Her face began bearing genuine smiles once again, and she started gaining her confidence little by little with every breathtaking kiss. She is still suffering from those old memories at times, but now, the once carefree girl has a chance at becoming truly happy again. Thanks to the kind man who was patient enough to show her what true, and real love feels like. By:LadyLeo

Because of this Slink crouched down to pick a flower for the girl. As he picked the roots from the ground, he looked up to find the girls face, inches from his. Once upon a time there was a man who could see the soul of every single person he met. Every day, he would glance at a person, solitary in the knowledge that he could see just how bright or dark a person’s soul had become. One day, as he walked along a rain-soaked sidewalk, he watched a lone passerby. His eyes were down. He made a habit of not staring. Just because he could see people’s souls didn’t mean he wanted to always see them. Because of this, he saw a reflection in a puddle ahead of him. His subconscious told him there was something out of the ordinary. He looked up and gasped. He stuttered. He tried to yell, to say something, but instead felt his heart begin to tighten. He shivered; he could not stop staring. Until finally the person before him spoke. “Ah, so you see then?” ,He still could not speak so he nodded his head. He saw. He saw everything as crystal clear yet truly saw nothing at all. The figures before him was simply an outline. A husk. No soul existed between the bowler hat atop the man’s head down to his highly polished wingtip shoes. “You know too much of course.” The man who sees souls gulped. Then sighed. I have seen all I wanted to see. Take what you will. And Death took all. By:Roland King

Once upon a time, there was a young princess named Petunia. She was one of the, maybe the most, beautiful and kindest princess in all the lands. Her most stunning feature was her eyes; they were an unusual hot amber color that could look deep inside you. Everyday, she would play with the animals in the neighboring forests. But one day, a young man saw her from afar, and came up to her. He introduced himself as Marcos, and he was like a man of the night; with his dark hair and deep, dark eyes. He was extremely handsome, which made Petunia nervous just being around him. She excused herself hurriedly, and with a blush bright on her cheeks, she ran back to the castle. Little did she know they would cross paths soon enough. But a dark day soon came; the queen died, leaving the entire kingdom in sorrow, mourning her loss. The loss of her mother nearly broke Petunia, but at least she still had her father. But soon, the king remarried. The step-queen was a beautiful woman, but her heart was cold and gnarled, especially towards Petunia. She turned her into a maid, and took all her fancy clothes, jewelry, and books. The king was unaware of this however, and soon had to leave for the war. The step-queen had been jealous of the king's first wife, and saw her in Petunia. Because of this, as the days went by, the step-queen's hatred for Petunia grew, until she ordered Petunia's most precious item to be taken from her; her eyes. She then cast her out into the forest, and forbid any of the citizens to look for her; if they had her in their possession, they'd be put to death... Petunia, with her sight gone, didn't know where to go. After two weeks, she had given up and laid herself out across the lush grass to die. She then heard a voice, and it took her but a moment to recognize the voice of the man she met long ago. Horrified, she tried to get up but could not find the strength to. She felt his rough hands caress her face as he whispered softly, with an edge in his voice, "Tell me who did this to you." She couldn't find the strength to speak, and laid her head against his chest. he picked her up and carried her to his home. The man turned out to be the newly crowned king of his kingdom, and he had been in love with Petunia since the day he first saw her at a banquet her mother and father had planned when she was younger. The people of his kingdom didn't want him to marry Petunia, but his mind wouldn't be changed. Petunia was afraid he wouldn't love her once he actually got to know her, and cried when she felt him put the ring on her finger. After they were officially wed, it was their night of consummation. She was still very shy about letting him touch her in that way. He comforted and assured her that she shouldn't feel nervous, until finally, she let him in. By:Ella Mal

Once upon a time there was a garden. It was a very beautiful garden. Tucked away in a quiet, sheltered corner of the southern hemisphere, it was the first place in the world to see the sun rise every morning, and the moon rise every evening. Nourished by sweet, pure rains from Rangi, powerful warm rays from Te Rā, and rich, loamy soil from Papatūānuku, the garden was verdant with an abundance of ferns, flowers and trees.

Every day, six small children came to explore the garden. It was their favourite place to play, with towering ferns and dense bushes perfect for hide and seek, beautiful flowers perfuming the air with sweet scents, and painting the greenery with jewel colours. With tasty snacks to fill hungry tummies, and huge trees to climb. And all the creatures to see, from those that snuffled in the soil, to those that fluttered through the trees. Above it all, through the gentle rain that fell and the strong sun that shone, arced a wide, bright arch of many colours, a curved striped bow tethering the earth, the sun, and the sky together in perpetual partnership. One day, while the children played and the creatures went about their creatury business, a dark shadow crept across the blue sky, stealthy as a hunter. Creatures scurried to shelter in their holes and nests. The children played on. A cacophony of whistles, squeaks, growls, booms, chirps, and clicks resounded through the garden, but the children played on. Trees rustled and waved their branches, flowers hid their faces. The children played on. The sky sent down warnings in the shape of faster and fatter raindrops. The children played on. The sun hid its light behind a curtain of soft grey, as if to say bedtime children. And the children paused, shivering. Where has the sun gone? they asked. Where are the creatures? Why is the rain so fierce? Even as they searched their minds for answers, an explosion roared through the garden. It made trees cower and flowers fall flat to the ground, and the children screamed, scrambling for cover. Another explosion swallowed all the colours, leaving only blackness. As the last rumbles faded, a piercing, silver dagger sliced across the blackness. The children shrunk further into the fronds of fern shielding them, huddling together like a human turtle. The black grew blacker and louder, the dagger sharper and brighter, the explosions louder and longer, until the children thought the whole world might burst. The littlest child amongst them happened to be the boldest too, the most curious. While the others hid their eyes, little Fleur kept peeking through the gaps in the ferns, marvelling at the bluish glaze that painted the whole garden when the dagger sliced. Because of that, she was the first to notice a tear appear in the blackness and a piece of blue poke through. She was the first to notice the dagger grow blunt and pale. She was the first to hear the explosions soften and muffle. And she was the first to see the trees reach once more for the sky, the flowers lift their faces ino this shiny wet world. Look, look. The world's coming back! And it was. There was the blue sky again. The rain was their familiar, gentle friend again. There were the creatures creeping out of their hiding places. Fleur leapt to her feet and raced out into the sunshine after them. Singing happy songs, she danced through the flowers, her friends following close behind. They danced until they were exhausted, and flung themselves on their backs in the long grass, smiling up at the clear sky. In that instant, gasps of horror rippled and echoed. The creatures froze. Fleur's sister, Poppy, began to cry. All eyes were locked on the blue sky. The empty blue sky. The... the rainbow. The... the sun. Fleur stuttered. They're broken. Poppy wailed louder, and an older child, Saffron, pulled her into a tight hug. Sshh, Poppy. Don't be scared. Fleur rolled onto her tummy, and lifted herself on her knees, gazing around. Caught in the curly fern fronds and tree branches, as soft as spring petals of blossom, were coloured shards of red and orange and yellow. Green and blue, indigo, violet. Some had even drifted in clumps at the foot of tree trunks. Fleur frowned, gazing from the shards to the sky and the shards again. A smile bloomed on her face, and she surged to her feet, pulling at Poppy's hand. Poppy, Saffron, I know what to do. Oak, Posy, Manuka, c'mon. We can fix it. We need to collect all the colors. Before she'd even finished speaking, Fleur whirled into action, and one by one the others followed. Soon a patchwork mountain grew out of the grass. When every last scrap had been collected and added to the mountain, the children gathered around and with twigs and blades of grass, began to stitch every last scrap of colour together, until finally, one disk and one striped ribbon lay in the long grass. Ready? Fleur asked. She'd shared her plan while they worked. Solemn faces looked back at her, nodding, and a chorus of voices agreed, Ready. Fleur took the disc in her hands and flung it into the blank, blue sky. As it span away, higher, higher, she and the others lifted the ribbon, stretching it out as long as it would go. On three, Saffron said. One, two, three... The children's voices rose together in a chant. Red and orange and yellow and green, blue and indigo... as they sang, they swung their arms up and down, and the ribbon billowed. Their voices rose, louder and louder, flying toward the empty blue sky, and with one final shout of Violet they released the ribbon. It hovered for a moment, and then an air current caught it and it floated away. I can't look muttered Fleur. She squeezed her eyes shut, her breath caught in her throat. A strange stillness and silence fell on the garden. Warmth crept into the air, settling around them, and even through her closed eyelids, Fleur sensed the light growing brighter. And then she heard Manuka's voice, raised in a triumphant yell. Poppy's joined in. Then Saffron's. Then Oak's and Posy's. Taking a deep breath, Fleur opened her eyes. She tilted her head back to look at the sky and let her own voice out in the same triumphant roar... I can see a rainbow. By:DancingPen NaNoSponsors Please

Once upon a time there was a small town somewhere in the woods. Citizens of the town, men and women, lived in fear of the horrible Beast of the forest. No one had ever seen him or heard his roar, and yet everybody knew that the Beast was there, silently waiting for his prey. Everyday, the town decayed more and more. Farmers left their fields; hunters hung their bows; the blacksmith abandoned his forge… Young people no longer sang and dance, for there was nothing much to celebrate. Even though the life kept going, everyone knew: any day could become the last. One day, a young man came to the town square. He proclaimed that he had a revelation in his dream, and that he would go into the woods and slay the Beast in a fierce fight at the expense of his life, thus ending the terror. Armed with a bow and arrows, he left the town. After a while, the townsfolk realized that the young man would not return. Though still terrified by the Beast, they decided to commemorate him, even though they knew that it could be the end of them all. So, they set the tables and had a feast; they ate and drank, sang and danced and had fun until the break of dawn. The Beast they were terrified of so much did not come to the sound of the celebration, and it raised their spirits. They had another feast the following day, and the day after that. Little by little their fear faded away, and their lives came back to normal. Because of that, the town thrived. Years passed, and it turned into a big city, the fame of which spread far across the land. For many seasons, people of the city lived their lives happily, celebrating the joy of life. Until finally, decades later, an old man appeared at the gates. He walked down the main street gracefully, with a smile on his face, looking admiringly at rich houses and lofty spires of the city. Nobody recognized him, of course; but some of the elder citizens agreed that his something in his face looked strangely familiar. By:A Thousand Young

Once upon a time there was a small shrine, right where we stand. So inconspicuous and decrepit, as if it hid from the sun, not alerting a single soul of its presence. Everyday, I would tread this path with my tiny toddler toes, till I made it to the garden of flowers that hid behind this chameleon shrine, you know how your grandmother adored flowers. And naturally everyday my innocent heart made a wish, arching my feet as high as I could to catch a glimpse of the dweller of the shrine and clapping my hands thrice.
One day, the shrine disappeared, not even a splinter of it remained. And being a child in body and mind, I soon forgot about its existence and the insignificant part it played in my early life. Because of that, I thought, perhaps, imagination had muddled with reality, as it often does with young brains, and I had conjured it all up. What a peculiar illusion and an even more peculiar wish! Do not ask me to reveal my wish, dear boy, you know it carries superstition, and I now stand here a believer in all things strange and inexplicable. Years came and went by, not unlike life today. Until finally, behold, in front of my very eyeballs the object of my desire appeared. I turned my head in every direction, scanning my surroundings like a hawk after its prey, but not a person was in sight. Right next to my ears, all I heard: three resounding claps. Once upon a time there was a ravishing young virgin who was born into a rich and socially elite family. Everyday, she pined for a handsome virile young man who would relieve her of her tiresome burden. One day, a horse broke down in front of her parent's villa. the rider was a traveling knight busyly recruiting _virgins for the king's annual dragon feeding. He at once saw the damsel as valuable asset , a solution to filling his quota. He begged the young woman's father for a bed for the knight until his horse could be repaired. The father, suspecting the knight of less than honorable intentions had his game keeper make a pallet of straw for the knight's night in the barn. During the night the ravishing young virgin crept on satin slippers, past the sleeping game keeper into the barn. The R.Y.V. took a firm hold of the sleeping knight's baldric and gently shook him awake. Weeping great wet tears she disclosed her pitiable condition and begged the knight that very night to relieve her of this burden. The knight fiercely resisted, he had, after all, a quota to meet, and truth be told he wasn't all that attracted to girls. The R.Y.V. knew she was doomed; that tomorrow when the horse mechanic repaired the knight's mare, she (the R.Y.V. not the mare) would be dragon fodder. She wept bitter and even wetter tears in her dread and anguish. Because of that, noisy weeping the game keeper awoke and was moved to comfort the R.Y.V. Upon hearing her tale he arrived at a solution. He kept arriving at the solution until the cock crowed, and crowed ,and crowed about five or six times. Until finally, the sun came too and the disappointed knight rode off on his hastily repaired mare. The game keeper was promoted and the ravished young girl was thus spared her visit to the dragon. The knight found consolation in the recruitment of a handsome young squire who wanted to see the world and gain those exciting new experiences he couldn't find in his straight laced hick town. Thus they all lived happily for the next nine months. By:Dee C

Once upon a time there was a small girl who lived in the woods outside of town. Every day, she would walk the long, lonely trail into town to barter her baked cookies for meat and vegetables that she and her mother needed because they didn’t have a garden or animals. One day, while walking to town she decided to take a short cut. Her mother told her to avoid this trail because nothing good ever happened to those who walked it. But the little girl was tired and needed to get to town quickly. She walked and walked and walked but it seemed she kept coming back to the same fork in the trail. Because of the time of day and it would be night soon, she decided that she needed to turn back and go home. But she couldn’t find the way back until finally she came across a strange little man along the trail. “Sir,” she said. “Can you help me. I’m lost.” “Of course, little one,” the impish man said. “Where do you want to go?” “Home, of course, silly.” “Not so silly. Where’s home?” The little man asked. She sat down on a large rock and began to cry. “I don’t know.” “For a cookie I’ll tell you.” The little girl opened her basket and gave the man a cookie. “So, where do I live? I want to go home.” The little man finished his cookie and licked the sugar from his fingers. With a twinkle in his eye he said, “You live over there.” “Where? All I see is forest.” “For another cookie I’ll give you directions.” He held out his hand. “But that’s the last one. My mother and I will have to eat these for dinner since I didn’t get to town.” “Oh,” said the little man as he bit his cookie. “I can help. I have magic. What do you need?” “We need meat and vegetables, eggs and things so I can make more cookies for tomorrow. Can you really help and get me home?” The little man smiled at her devilishly and said, “For a cookie I can.” By:J.L. O'Dell

Once upon a time there was a man who wanted to become a dog. He’s watched his neighbour’s bulldogs laze around, and wished he could do the same. Everyday, he had to drag himself out of the front gate to head to work, while the bulldogs slept soundly on a soft rug next to a tray of food, and prayed that he could exchange lives with one of them. One day, the man woke up and found himself standing on all fours. He plodded around with his paws and saw his own house standing on the opposite side of the fence, while a familiar red fur carpet was laid out on the wooden porch. The man-turned-canine yapped excitedly as he bounded around the house across the greens, tail wagging. His wish had come true. But his happiness didn’t last. His stomach ached with hunger after a few minutes run, and he went to the food tray, only to find gooey slop on the tray. It neither looked nor smell appetising, and he knew he shouldn’t expect more from the dog food, but it didn’t stop the disgust from churning in his stomach as he attempted to eat without hands. Things only got worse when the kids came back from school. They pet and cuddled him and dragged by the collar to the park, where he met was accosted by even more kids trying to play with his canine form, as if it was a toy. The experience was exhausting as it was horrifying. Because of that, he spent the rest of the evening wondering when he could have his old life back. Until finally, he woke up from his strange, yet vivid, dream. Since then, he stopped looking over his neighbour’s fence, as he whistled on his way to work. The end. By:EpicScore

Once upon a time there was a woman who lived in a shoe. Everyday, she came home from a long day of work and wrinkle her nose the moment she opened the door. It seemed that the realtor who sold the place had forgotten to mention the shoe was slightly used. "Only slightly?" The woman said. "Of course, only worn once." The realtor grinned convincingly as he slid the documents over. It was only used once, true. But the person who wore it had athlete's foot! And very bad hygiene to boot! One day, the poor woman got fed up living in her smelly sneaker and decided to sue the realtor. But the case got tied up in red tape and a protracted legal battle ensued. It culminated in a dramatic courtroom battle, in which the realty company lawyer brought forth the document that she signed herself! The jury gasped. It looked like an open and shut case. But she brought in one of the shoelaces, reeking of rancid sweat and sour fungus. The smell brought the case to a halt as the building was evacuated. Because of that, the judge ruled in her favor for a better smelling home. With the funds awarded, she lived a long and happy life. The nasty shoe house was passed around from stranger to stranger, each gasping for breath as they abandoned it. Until finally, someone burned it down and saved everyone the trouble. Once upon a time, there was a dog named Diva Do, who was fine and fancy as could be. Every day, Diva Do would sneak out of her yard underneath the fence and she would trot around doing what Diva Do did. One day, it started to rain and rain and didn't stop for three days. Because of that, all Diva Do did was run outside and do what she needed to and run inside so she wouldn't get all filthy like the other dog who lived there, who was practically a mud sponge that couldn't be rinsed out. Until finally, the rain stopped and Diva Do took the opportunity to go for a walk. But on the way out under the fence, she got soaking wet and absolutely covered in mud, and she needed to get back inside quick before any of the neighbors saw her. Unfortunately, when she realized this it was already too late and she was on the other side of the fence and had to walk all the way around the fence row that went on for three houses. When she got home it started raining and there was no one home to open the door for her. Diva Do decided to take advantage of the rain and ran around getting all cleaned off just in time for the pop-up shower to stop, then Diva Do was free to take her walk around the block doing whatever it was that Diva Do did. Once upon a time, there was a great explosion in the sky. People all over the county were startled at the suddenness of such an event. Many of the citizen's claimed that it was like someone turning on giant speakers suddenly. Windows cracked and many shattered as the sound wave stretched across the land. There were reports from all over of people fainting, while others run to hiding places for safety. Up until that day, Baseville County had not experienced anything of the kind. One woman remarked that this would be something that people would be speaking about for many years to come. Every day since then, Baseville County residents walk with an eye to the sky. Especially, since they never received a factual explanation of the occurrence. People often stopped as they walked along the sidewalks, and would discuss that strange day when they heard "a sound like the gates of hell being busted open." The worst part was that many residents began becoming suspicious of all visitors to their lovely section of the state. "You know there's something going on with all those new people," said Maybelle, as she squinted at a couple walking by in front of her bakery shop. One day, two strange men entered the bakery. Both seemed distinguished, due to their obviously expensive suits. One of them had on a tie that could "easily have to cost at least ," thought Maybelle. "Can I help you," she asked. "Just some doughnuts," said the man with tie, " We are here for a meeting with the City Council and we want to make a good impression." "Is it about the sonic booms?" queried Maybelle. "Why yes, we are here to assure everyone that there was no problem, there is no danger, and everything is going to be okay." Because of that, and the announcement by the City Council that people could relax and go about their lives without worry, Maybelle decided that she could relax again. Until finally one day, it happened again. The sound started on one side of the sky and spread across from east to west. The sound waves shattered windows and rattled the bones of the citizens of Baseville County. "I knew it," shouted Maybelle at no one in particular, "I knew it! It's aliens, and we're being invaded." Maybelle ran to her closet, which she called her "safe room," locked herself in, and peeked out the keyhole to see if any aliens would come to her house. By:PastorJuan

Once upon a time there was a little girl who carried a big balloon around with her everywhere.
Everyday she would go for a walk through the park, proudly carrying her big balloon. One day, as she was walking thought the park, a large bullfrog jumped right in her pathway and began talking. The bullfrog wanted to know why she was carrying the balloon. The little girl explained that her father had given her the balloon and she liked it so much and felt proud walking around with it. Bullfrog asked if she was ever going to let the balloon go. The little girl said no. The bullfrog hopped away still bewildered as to why she would want to carry a silly balloon.
The little girl proceeded along her way and found a bunch of pretty flowers. She thought they were so pretty but she could not figure a way to keep holding her balloon and pick the flowers. She was still holding the balloon when a large black cat sat down next to her. She had a tough decision to make. She loved her balloon that her dad gave her but she really loved those pretty flowers that she planned to give to her mother. She became very sad.
The cat sitting next to her asked why she was so sad. The little girl explained her plight. The cat said he could hold the balloon while she picked the flowers. It sounded like the solution to her problem. However, she did not realize that a cat does not have thumbs and cannot hold onto a balloon. Because of that, the balloon was floating alone in the wind. The little girl cried. She watched the balloon float through the air, until finally, it landed in a bush where she was able to retrieve it. While still holding the flowers in one hand, the little girl was able to grab the balloon in the other hand.
She walked back home proudly carrying both the balloon from her father and the flowers she wanted to give to her mother. She met the bullfrog again along the way. The bullfrog was clapping and cheering for her and now understood that the balloon and the flowers were both important to the little girl. And, that was why she did not want to let the balloon go even though she also wanted the flowers. Through determination and persistence, she found a way to carry both. By:Lady Christine

One day, an older boy rushed over to him in a euphoric bout of friskiness and scooped him out of his chair. The older boy flung him up in the air, causing his useless legs to flail and dance in midair. The little boy cried out, not out of fear or pain, but pure happiness. He had never experienced such bliss, such danger, and thrill! Because of that, the boy became best friends with the older kid and frequently begged him to make him fly.
