A short poem about a morning visitor.
Into The Wild

Dim light filters twinkling stars on resting fields of snow.
Dull blues and grays pray morning's sun to warm them with its glow.

Earth Mother gently says "It's time to rise my furry child,"
So Cottontail emerges from her den into the wild.

Every dawn she hops with tiny feet that track about,
and every day she stops to say "I'm here, wont you come out?"

I slowly crack the door to view her rounded silhouette,
and say "hello, good morning, have you found your carrot yet?"

She stops, "I'm just a statue, who are you talking to?"
I close the door, she hops away into the orange hue.
