Considering choices made and choices not made
I look out and watch the world pass by.
All my dreams,
And things I wanted to do.
Where hope once resided
Is now filled with regret.
Places I wanted to go
Things I wish I had done.
I never stood a chance.
In this world of cruelty.
No family to call my own;
Left money for freedom.
But even freedom had its price.
Never being pretty or lucky.
Exes always abuse.
Worked hard for a future;
One I no longer see.
One path opens
While the other closes.
Not all leading to the same place.
So many things
Should not be as they are.
Should I move on?
Everyone does.
I hope to no longer regret.
For the life I have,
Is the only life I have.
Make it what I can,
And look forward to my future,
As I regret my past.
