A Rondel poem inspired by a Pond Poetry image prompt of a hitchhiker's outstretched hand.

The road of life is traveled many ways
Always does the horizon’s promise entreat
Whether we travel by wheels, rudder, or feet
Our hearts and eyes are ever forward agaze

The journey may be long and full of delays
But relentless, unflinching time does accrete
The road of life is traveled many ways
Always does the horizon’s promise entreat

There will be days filled with golden rays
And others that feel more bittersweet
The key is to never take a backseat
Even if your choices lead you sideways
The road of life is traveled many ways
