Trying out poetry. Memories from being in a Military Working Dog unit.
Heat from the beating sun
Spills over the roof of aluminium
We call out all your names
You all reply the same

Every personality contrasting starkly
Much like the various whiffs of waste
We grab our buckets and brushes
Hold in our breaths and make haste

One would bring the occupant
on a walk to the grassy fields
The others stuck with cleaning up
the concrete floors and gate grilles

Always pop by Minty's gate
She stares up in delight
With caution I slip inside
Eager to start a "fight"

Instantly she jumps, up around my waist
I try to keep up with her snout
Too much energy for a child
My back struggles to straighten out

Her adorable disposition is welcoming
With a glossy glistening coat to boast
What Minty just wants to do to guests
Is to chomp your hands down... What a bad, very bad host
