an essay about specific effects of words
The power of words
This essay deals with famous speeches of celebrated people and why their words are special.
Firstly, in my view, the power of words means that addresses can encourage people to do what the author of the memorable words wants. For instance, Winston Churchill motivated his audience to fight and defend their land.
There are a number of rhetorical details that make a speech more powerful. For example, use of future tenses or superlative forms, structural repetitions, like "I have a dream" in the speech of Martin Luther King.
However, the words can be a vicious tool in the wrong hand. Adolf Hitler influenced millions of people to carry out his dreadful plans.
Lastly, I feel that speeches can change the world. For the better or not depends on the author`s intentions and listeners` wisdom.
