writers cramp contest
writers cramp 3/29 "If we get arrested, it's your fault!”

"If we get arrested, it's your fault!”
I heard the words stop, or halt

The police ran after us, we should bolt.
Our strides like, a frolicking young colt.
We took off as quickly as could be,
racing away, from the crime, you see.

Still pursued by police, they were remote.
Covering ground, we ran wishing we could float.
Breathless and tired we were by now.
No more steps we could take, anyhow.

This was no joke, we knew for sure,
as we sprang through, the open door.
Lets us hide, where we won’t be found, so
dashed under cover, like speedy grey hounds.

They searched, and they searched,
and they looked all around.
We hoped and prayed that,
we would not be found

looking close but to no avail
we held out breaths, because,
we did not want to go to jail.

Then they stopped, at a screeching halt,
"If we get arrested, it's your fault!”
