Punctuation, Grammar, Syntax, Spelling
As I begin to gather my thoughts about the stories and experiences I wish to write about, I am reminded to consolidate rules for punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and grammar, etc., without forgetting the ideas I want to use. In addition, I'll need the mental "fuel" necessary to concentrate long enough to complete the task and not be distracted by the things going on around me. Some writers may have an easy time remembering rules for practicing mechanics and grammar on a work sheet, but I sometimes struggle to remember everything at once while writing a fictional story, true life experience, or even a paragraph. There is certainly more involved than what I'm stating here, but suffice to say by remembering (these) simple, but effective rules, I'm one keystroke ahead of the other digit.

I wrote this after reviewing my first two submissions and critique of several stories by other authors to remind myself that part of good writing is to incorporate the basics outlined above in all that I ... WRITE!
