True short story of life and living for a very small girl.
Naive Native

It is good to be the last to know that everyone is not kind
It is good to be the last to know that I have a different mind
It is good to be the last to know that a man will not always love a lady
It is good to be the last to know that just because I had a baby
Without a husband or marriage
That I don't have to be ashamed for pushing my child in a carriage
It is good to be the last to know that I can survive
Even if I am homeless or beaten
Thrown into the streets of life to be eaten
Drenched in hope and silence
Sleeping on streets filled with violence
Sleeping in two pair of pants and a tight belt
Afraid to ask anyone for help
Looking through windows late at night
Trying to find a safe place to sleep and be alright
It is good to be the last to know
That some people will let you go
Even when you have done your best.
