A children's poem on a starry night
My dreams collide with my imagination,
That drift so recklessly from dream to dream.
Gazing into the sky where so many treasures lie,
I float aimlessly beyond clouds of whipped cream.

Landing in a galaxy of so many vibrant stars,
I wonder if I may leap from here to distant Mars?
As I gaze at each star lovingly as if they are my own,
I wish I could take each one home in my keeper's jar.

Open it quietly in my room and let them loose to play
Follow the leader and all the stars dancing with me.
I'd put on all my best music and play a sweet melody;
A song about stars that twinkle and add some harmony.

I might even choose a few pet stars and give a name to them,
Like Twinkle Star and Mary Rose and Starlite, to name a few.
When it was time to say goodbye I would put each one right back.
Into the sky I would release them all to enjoy the starry view.
