Written in light of the Peshawar shooting
I can hear
The cries of the whole world’s people –
Mournful cries not from the mouth but the heart
Cries for little eyes open in shock and despair
And cries for the souls who have lost their faith.
They were children, just children,
Unaware and now dead. Bloody. Obscure.

But I pray
Not just for the lives being stolen
Not just for the hearts being so selfishly broken
But for the empty shells who do not understand
Who cannot love, who cannot care,
Who have been engulfed by Evil to a point where
They throttle Your children while taking Your name.

Good God,
Let in the wronged innocent knocking so frantically on your door.
Put them to sleep and calm their heartbroken souls
And purge us of the Evil that hurled them at you.
