This was written for a friend whose son had passed away.
My Son

On the day you were born
It was such a joy
Just to hear the doctor say,
“It’s a boy!”

You were such a sight to behold
But to me you will always be
Worth more than gold.

Every day with you was such a thrill
I remember them well
And I always will.

You were always doing what young boys do
But through it all I could not help but love you.

You made me feel so lucky
And with you to be seen
And each and every day
I felt just like a queen.

I wanted to teach you wrong from right
And I tried so hard and prayed with all my might
As you grew older things were not the same
It was just like the rules changed in your game.

But with all the troubles and things that you done
I will always love you,
My one and only special son.
