JOY OF SPRING

I applaud the birds that sing
A pledge I make in early Spring.
No richer have I smelled the air
Rising from the earth now bare.
~
Soon to be all dressed in green,
Shades of which are yet unseen.
Flowers must their promise keep,
As they awake from winters sleep.
~
Then dot the landscape all around,
Color springing from the ground.
Thus it’s painted by Gods hand
And Spring begins in this land.
