...but for how long?

I hang on to the edge,
Immobilized, as you watch from afar
You look down upon me as I fall,
And then I see your hand, reaching out.

Why do you reach out to me?
Your eyes are still so cold,
I truly cannot understand you.
And in spite of myself,
I reach out to you.

Those ice shards in the name of eyes you possess
Impale me bone deep, piercing my soul,
Yet I cannot stop my pathetic self
From trying to hold on to you as I fall.

The sunshine falls upon you,
Your enormous shadow shadows me,
And I begin to fade in your darkness.

I fade away, you walk away,
And even though you pretend to not care
I know it's because you can't watch me disappear.
Why won't you acknowledge me?
Why don't you understand that
You're the only one who can save me?

Just come back to me, please...
If I haven't given you enough,
Take the little of me that remains.
Just stay a little longer, I'm pleading!

The least you could do
Is turn back and give me a smile,
Just once, could you?
Or is merely that much asking for too much?
Stop walking away in that haste
And look closely before nothing of me remains.

Hold on to me a little longer,
Please stay with me as I leave....
