This is not the same kind of first day that kids normally have.
Dan will not go to his usual school today
His classroom is not where noisy children like to play
He won't hear his friends' laughter or read a textbook
He won't draw butterflies or sing from a songbook
The hallway of his room goes to a chemo lab
The bells he hears are from his mobile virtual robot, called King Crab
One final special paper that he wishes to see
Is that his blood that was taken, was completely cancer free.
Then when his doctor tells his mother that his health reports are fine
It's back to his school and friends and some days in the warm sunshine

The teaching aid is called a mobile virtual presence device that is similar to the one mentioned in the Big Bang Theory. It was used by Sheldon.
I have heard of other computer devices in hospitals and homebound children.
