A chance encounter that changes you for the better.
How would I describe you if I was the poetic type
If I could let words leap into flight

You see I was traveling lost in the night
Eyes adjusted again to the dark
Skin numb with the familiar chill
Stumbling about in the woods somewhere far
When out of nowhere, a most unexpected sight

A bright flame of fire
The inviting glow drew me close
Quickly, I admit, it lead to desire
The longer I stayed, the more I wanted to know

Chill soon replaced with an easy warm
Almost forgotten, eyes glad for the welcome bright

But let me try to describe it another way

Rainbows can’t exist in a world of black and white
With you around, my colors were coming back to life
No longer trapped in a world of gray
Sad thing about rainbows, they don’t stay

The fleeting moments I tried to take in
Knowing the darkness was out prowling

Returning to the cold I cannot fully say
For I stole an ember as the fire went out
And yes it still glows bright, even today
How long it might last, that too I wonder now
