Grandma’s Christmas toy this year is perfect.
My Grandma gave to me this year
a Color Chaser children’s toy.
She does not seem to know I am
an adult now and not a boy.

The Chaser toy, made by Mattel,
has wheels and scoots across the floor.
It changes color as it goes
and turns around when at the door.

This is a windup Chaser toy—
there are advanced ones that are sold.
They come with a remote control;
(perhaps I will someday take hold.)

Alas, poor Grandma does perceive
the youth so stunted in the young.
Forgetfulness or focus lost,
yet gentle heart and kindness one.

There were the socks of Christmas past
that were the size for child’s feet.
Yet as those teen years came around,
’twas far from perfect, though still sweet.

Despite this children’s toy extant,
I cannot gripe about her gift.
It chases all my blues away,
and gives me a much needed lift.
