Just keep your head above the water
With Storms in Mind

In my heart there is a rainbow,
when the rain reclines, relents
A place where all this time slows,
where my soul resides, repents

Overthinking of the downpour,
the winds that ripped it through
Over analysing rainfall,
the measures that we knew

The guages we acknowledged,
the limits that we strain
The boundaries we forfeit,
time and time again

The ghosts that haunt our heartbeats,
the vessels they speak through
Something in the water,
... it must be something true

Phantoms from the old days,
spirits from the past
Through blizzards cold, such thoughts play,
with die we never cast

Channeling known waters,
'neath bridges old and new
Canal paths, narrow quarters,
muddy ridges, rain soaked through

A flood, fresh, spreading faster,
in ignorance we're caught
A fever, can't think past her,
thoughts foaming, rapid, wrought

A river wild sought her,
where floodplains weigh down sins
Beneath the weight of water,
the healing begins

With storms in mind, I venture,
I try to start again
To make way for a brighter day,
this wintery refrain

Between the rapture and the torture,
summer's heat and winter's cold
Through valleys without borders,
their creases and their folds

Where traces of a cold wind blow,
through spaces where you dwell
Places where my heart beats... bows,
... with faces that have fell
