Coffee Calamity Writing Competition #2227015
This morning I awoke to get my morning cup of coffee. When I turned on the coffee pot, it didn't work. I went to get the coffee container out of the cupboard, only to discover that I was out of coffee. I figured that I would go to the grocery store and buy some. It wouldn't be a problem at all. Then, all of a sudden I heard breaking news that aliens were going to strip away all of the store's supply of coffee. I was so certain that this was a hoax; I didn't believe this to be true, so I got dressed and went to the store. Sure enough, this had become a reality; it wasn't a hoax after all. I began to panic. I said to myself, "I got to have it, I got to have it, I got to have my coffee! I just can't survive without my coffee!"

I managed to get through day one, but the urge just wouldn't go away. What was I going to do? Coffee is a soothing drink that keeps my mind going; it's an excitement that propels me to come up with good stories; it's the creative side of my brain that inspires me to write. As a writer, encouraging beginners to fall in love with a pen, paper, and a computer, I needed to come up with good stories. After all, you've got to start somewhere, right?

Why don't the aliens give us back our coffee? Why would they take away something that I depend on? Did they take it on an expedition to Mars, the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, etc.? Did the aliens need a special drink to boost their morale?, or was this just a ploy of pure orneriness to get some attention? Whatever the case, in order to get my coffee back, I needed to put forth an entreat, not only for myself, but for other's as well.

My entreat to the aliens goes like this:

         Hello, my fellow aliens,

I'm aware that you've taken away my coffee; I need to have it back, you see. I'm desperate. Coffee gives me the energy I need to jump start my mornings, afternoons, and evenings. It renews my creativity, prevents bad health, and warms me up when it's cold. It's my source of comfort for relaxing.

Please, aliens, I'll gladly share my coffee with you. I'm glad that you're enjoying it, but I need my coffee in order to survive, otherwise, my anxiety will continue to rise, and this is not a good thing, my friends. Consider giving me back my coffee, you'll be glad you did. Have a caring attitude that's heartfelt. For your generosity, I'd be forever grateful, and believe me, you'll feel better by doing this.

My hope aliens, is that you'll be friendly, and understand how badly I need my coffee. We could have a nice gathering where we could have some friendly chats.

I understand, aliens, that you're highly intelligent, yet I don't understand why you choose to play games with us Earthlings. What is your purpose for doing so? Please, I'm asking you politely, that you'll return our coffee back to us.

I can see how you'd think that I'm creating a lot of drama about this. I'm sorry to be overexcited, but I do need my coffee. Why does everyone have to suffer so?

Oh, what a wonderful surprise!; I think I'm finally beginning to see the light. Looking up into the sky, I see a spaceship with a big sign that says, Welcome Earthlings to the enterprise of coffee. We've found coffee to be so delicious that we're going to keep you supplied with coffee from here on out.

Thank-You aliens, you'll never regret this. You've saved our lives; I'm so glad that we don't have to worry about our coffee being taken away from us ever again.
