An existential threat need not be physical. It is often subtle. Sometimes it is us!

“When you have made evil the means of survival, do not expect men to remain good.

Do not expect them to stay moral and lose their lives for the purpose of becoming the fodder of the immoral.

Do not expect them to produce, when production is punished and looting rewarded.

Do not ask,
“Who is destroying the world?”

You are.”

― Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

THE DESTROYER

Evil cannot exist without the individual that believes and embraces it. It no longer hides in the shadows, marginalized by the condemnation it so richly deserves. It now stands proudly and openly before us. It shows no fear, it smells victory, its taste for blood is irresistible. It is evident in our body politic, our educational industry, each and every media outlet, both audio and visual, and especially in our streets. The self-loathing, the ignorance and the hatred are palpable. It feeds on these things and grows stronger by the day.

As fear and intimidation become the coin of the realm, even those of character and integrity fall prey to the need to protect those that they love. The good is subjugated while the evil takes control. Where is the tolerance that was paramount not so long ago? Where is the thirst for equality and justice, FOR ALL, and not the few, that framed every thought and word they produced? What part of community and freedom do they not understand? With each breath, the good retreats, and the evil grows.

The moral individuals will not be able to withstand the onslaught, and please do not focus only on the evil that does indeed exist within us, but recognize that this wave of unthinking and unfeeling mindlessness will consume all in its wake, good and bad alike. Where are the 'rainbows' and saving the life of even a single child, as they die in the streets and in their beds? Where is the 'love' that was the beginning of their movements? You cannot steal these things from others, and yet reserve them for yourself. When did reason leave the room, and ignorance become the new norm?

There are those that will actually participate in their own personal destruction, hoping against hope that it is not inevitable. The weak and confused. Those able to be manipulated and dominated. Those as well that will embrace the new paradigm, only to be eventually consumed and discarded, incredulous that the irrational is anything but. Most will not acquiesce, and they will resist, denying their acceptance or cooperation. Most will perish, others will find a way to survive, or not. The parasites will in time exhaust their sources of sustenance, and feed on each other. Oh, the irony. It is inevitable. At some point, what remains will pick up the pieces. We can only hope the Pheonix will arise from the ashes.

Those that expect all of this chaos to work will be woefully disappointed. How can you expect anything else? History shows what happens in these instances, but they were never introduced to the concepts, nor the ramifications of these same actions taken, a myriad of times over the millennia. The statement that those who are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it echoes eerily deep within. I lament the lack of thought and philosophy, the absence of reason and integrity, the abundance of hubris and arrogance. Trying to replace something damaged but not irreparable, for something demonstrably incapable of providing resolution on any level.

We are destroying our own world, our own existence. We seem to be working together, not to make a better future for all, but one that will create a world of impoverished poverty and deprivation. We will ultimately reach that level of equality, but one that no one truly envisions. There will certainly be exceptions, the elites and the privileged, the appeasers, and the sycophants. There always are. Many believe themselves to be destined to share in the spoils, but that never happens either. Their usefulness soon becomes obsolescence. The 'haves' decrease as the 'have-nots' explode. Where have I heard that before? Oh, yeah, at the beginning of this foray into 'revolution'. Again, history shows us, time and again, that revolution rarely results in the expected results. Be careful what you wish for. You just may get it.

You may deserve it, but the rest of us do not.
