The lovers’ room
SANCTUARY

Into the room we share,
Into the sanctuary of togetherness,
Into another dimension.

The world carries on without us,
Falling away,
Disappearing in fog and mist.

The universe shrinks
To a double bed,
A ceiling light,
A clothes-strewn carpet.

Nothing else exists,
Only the feel of
Caressing hand on flesh,
And tender words,
And ecstasy.

Our own private Narnia,
Another small world
Right on the other side
Of the door.

No lions though,
Just cats.
