Daily Flash Fiction 6/17/21 W/C 159

A lazy day stretched before us. There’s nothing to do, absolutely nothing.

Except for the yard.

“Did you mow the grass?” Jane asked at 9 AM.

I was just enjoying my second cup of coffee. “Um, no. Why?”

A lazy day, there’s nothing to do. Absolutely nothing to do today, I thought.

“Well, the front yard is a bit long. Watering it the other day helped. We need to cut the yard today.”

Jane grabbed my cup, then walked away.
I couldn’t believe it. A lazy day now taken away from me. Unfair!

“Do you want me to mow the front or back?” I found Jane sitting at her computer. She was deep in a game of some sort.

“Oh Mark. Yes, and could you edge while you’re at it? Thanks! Love you.”

With that order, I knew my lazy day just disappeared. Like fog when the sun comes out. Magic.

And was I now to mow both yards?
