upon revisiting my childhood home
It is somehow unsettling
to be in my childhood room
so familiar, yet, so alien.

Competing memories whisper
trapped in these four walls
         triumph, exhilaration
         failure, desperation
memories welcome and avoided.

These walls were witness
to the depths of my sadness
to the aerie heights of my elation.

The secrets these walls could tell!
If only walls could talk...
         thank goodness they cannot.
