This was written instead of studying for Physics
a cat crosses the road
stops in the middle, ponders
the likelihood of being alive
seconds from now
to ponder the same

he has plutonium eyes
toxic but delicious
a trail of spilled milk
for a tail, nails as teeth
and a hammerhead tongue

his feet are wrinkles
in energy, his corners are
right and wrong

instead of fur,
he is covered in mold
as if he were past
his expiration date

he has 9 lives
but he can only live for
half of them--
a total of 4.5 lives

every second,
he drops a whisker
and gains an answer

all of his atoms are
living and dying
decaying and thriving
the tag around his neck
reads Mr. S

a cat crosses the road
stops in the middle, ponders
the likelihood of being dead
seconds from now
never to ponder again

he turns towards the
traffic and says,

"the world you live in
doesn't exist
if I can't see it."
