Way down in Alabam...
Cheaha Mountain way down in Alabama
Holds adventures on her ridges.
Eastward we go following trails,
Already old in the days of our fathers.
How many years will I live this memory,
Already old in the days of our fathers.

More mountain peaks await me,
One a day, like an obsessed marathoner,
Until I get to the finish line/peak
No more will I rest and reset.
There is another reason I trek,
Already old in the days of our fathers,
In my mind I keep on wandering,
Not there yet, but moving on.

Already old in the days of our fathers,
Life was slowly passing me by.
“Already old in the days of our fathers”
Became watchwords to identify me.
Already old in the days of our fathers.
My world slowly devolves with steps,
Already old in the days of our fathers.
