Plot Complications

Sebastian Petitjean saw her walk into the restaurant, a little curvier, a little more caboose, but with the same long hair, perhaps a few more freckles, and those same blue-gray eyes that were the reason he came out of his shell and became more outgoing. There was no wedding band on her left hand, nor any other ring. He felt the same attraction he did when both were still teenagers, forgetting how he broke his heart.

No one stopped him as the professional athlete made his way to the titian-haired beauty, ignored the two people with her, and stopped behind her. “Good evening, Tish,” he whispered.

The woman slowly turned; her face red because only one person ever called her that pet name. She inhaled and took a step back. Her eyes widened and instinctively threw her arms around him. He put his around her body and pulled her tight, like they were at the prom.

“I am so sorry,” she cried into his chest.

Melissa Thayer was back in his life.

Geoffery Younger sat and watched a couple embrace. He didn’t know who the woman was, someone from his past, but the man he knew well. Or, knew OF him. Petitjean was the man who had the journals that could help him in his quest to rule the demons in this world. He finished his bourbon, left a $5 bill on the table, and collected his things. He knew Petitjean was back, as if his curse would fail him. He stood and nodded. Two men left the restaurant before him, two more stayed and watched the mini reunion. They would check back with their boss the following day, informing him of where the young man was staying.
