Thinking of my sister far away.
North Carolina

Tell me something about North Carolina
That I don’t know.
Take your time,
I will pour the coffee
And think of the Tarheel State
As I let my mind wander
Into the southland
Where I am sure it is warmer
Than this frost-laden wasteland.

I tip my mug
Towards Asheville
And Henderson
And miss frosty mornings
Spent coffee drinking
With my big sister
Before she moved south.
Coffee makes me miss her.
