Recounting an unsettling dream.
I Think I Need a Shrink!
WC 221

I had the strangest dream last night. I had a few too many, which might account for the oddness of this nightmare. As far as I know, however, I am basically a happy person with no terrible memories of my childhood—unless, of course, I am suppressing them. It is possible.

In my dream, I'm in the living room in the house on Home Avenue, the tiny ticky-tack shack jammed with screaming psychotics--the place of my beginnings.

Dodging verbal barbs and leather strap lashes, I turn and run down the long and narrow hallway that goes on and on for miles, trying to reach my bedroom. Just then, I hear noises behind me.

A pack of rabid dogs rushes toward me. I take off running as the drooling mongrels nip at my heels. I sprint for my life. My bedroom door is within sight. The beasts overtake me just as my hand touches the porcelain knob. Pit Bulls, Doberman Pinschers, Miniature Poodles nip at my heels. Before I can reach my bedroom, they attack.

My body slams against the rotting pine door frame as I lunge through the portal. I look down and out into nothingness as I fall and fall and fall and fall.

I think I need a shrink…or maybe just another drink. What do you think?
