Nine lives I have, this was one of them.
How fragile a thing is a memory
a moment captured imperfect
yet precious, so precious

The feeling as I caressed your skin
aching with desire
your soft curves are perfect in my mind

That look you had when I caught you unaware
so cute
dark brown myopic eyes

The ecstasy of lying in your bed with you
gazing up at the stars, glow in the dark,
you'd stuck them to the ceiling

The taste of melted butter on a muffin,
Gryphon's Raindance on the record player
Green pistachios on a Sunday morning

Mourning our perfect snowball cat
killed by a car,
painful shared grief

Holidaying in a tent with friends
discrete visits to the trees
disowning a scream

The excitement of expecting
destroyed so cruelly
one small picture to remember

Being parents together
planning Christmas, Toys R Us
Holidays and school

Discovering the lump
sudden aggressive,
you had so much pain my love

Kissing in the funeral home
last time
Though it was not really you

How fragile a thing is a memory
now not even one photo
to share my self pity
