About my mother's relationship with escapism
Author's Note: I'm working on a project where I comb through my mother's old work (she passed in 2015) and "co-write" them. I thought that it could be an interesting exercise, and I hope to someday publish the collection as a collaborative work. Any critique is much appreciated, I'm only a hobbyist. Thanks! -NightShift

Come life, come strife.
Bring your heartache to me,
alone in the darkness,
Run faster. You’re free!
Run to the dream,
from a nightmare. Stop fast!
Breathlessly leap over traps of the past.

Verity blows in with snow every night;
how cold it does grow.
Spread your wings, take to flight.

Hold on or you’ll fall,
never land,
do you dare?
Do you dare to wake up,
dare return to despair?

Screams echo all around you;
no one’s there.
