A friend's death brings two souls back together
The drawer reveals secrets of the past
Memories long forgotten
Buried deep within.
But time has shifted
And the once lived and flourished
Has died and left
This home to sort
These memories to divide.
We move into the space
A space we buried deep within our own memories
Too painful; we shut them out
But now we stand and look
Through old photographs.
Happy smiles
The laughter echoes in the walls,
Dances across the floor,
Settles around us in a hug.
Together, we face the past.
Our love and its demise
And now, its reprise
We think too much time has passed,
But our hearts know different --
For love, it was just yesterday
We see it in the photograph
And it seeps back into reality's cracks
And settles like a balm
Paving the way for our future...
Together.
