For the Lighthouse Poetry Contest: Resurrection
Despite a love greater than any e're imagined
Christ was tried by a capricious crowd and crucified;

behind the limestone tomb blocked by a boulder
he slept a solemn dreamless savior's rest
inside of something more than death -
his resurrection guaranteed by God.

So when his body bore rebirth;
the women knew pure fear and trembling joy,
so heard his gentle, soft assurances as balm:

Be not afraid,
I am the morning light, the evening truth, the way
My resurrection is the song that saved the world;

and by the Sea of Galilee his soft goodbye resounding
echoes now, as then, with promises of sweet reunion.
