I have decided to try doing a sonnet. Feedback is appreciated.
Having the abilities to protect
us, veterans have marched many miles.
Humility, honor, and strength, are shown
by patriotism and reverence.

Earned by their courageous deeds in fighting
battles, they received medals and merits.
They learned, by following their leaders, how
they could get out of their hidden garrets.

From the past, loved ones have shown their wisdom,
like the rings on the trees show their ages.
Thinking that their thoughts would last forever,
are things that memories have held on to.

Giving us their bliss to remember, the
times we've cherished, will be missed by us all.
