Moon Over July

A hot July night,
Not unlike the others,
A lone wolf howls,
I hide under covers.

Nature's lyrics cause fright,
But above a star hovers,
And the dog shakes his jowls,
And a storm shakes the cupboards.

Moon over July,
And I make a few wishes,
To be safe from the storm,
And God save the dishes!
