Catch 22 situation

Catch 22 situation

“Sam, what you are facing is a catch-22 situation”.

“What do you mean, Big Daddy?”

“Well, it is like this. I can’t hire you because well you just have not been around enough and you lack experience in this field. But, to gain that experience, you have to get a job somewhere first. But unfortunately for you, I can’t hire you because, well, you see, I am running an illegal business and I need people who have a criminal record. I see you are a lawyer, but I don’t need a normal lawyer. I need a ‘criminal’ lawyer if you catch my drift.”

“Kind of like Saul Goodman in ‘Breaking Bad’”

         “Exactly right my friend.”

“If I can prove that I can be a ‘criminal’ lawyer can you hire me?”

“Perhaps. Tell me what you would do to make this operation I run legal.”

“Is the Cosmos Club legally registered?”

“Sort of. My manager is the niece of the police chief but no I have not formally registered the business. Too much red tape and there is no upside to that.”

“Hmm let me see what I can do.”

A week later the Cosmos Bar was fully licensed. and Sam was hired as the in-house lawyer and corporate fixer not just for Big Daddy but for his many associates many of whom had dubious pasts like Big Daddy, an ex-CIA hitman.
