Forest Fires and Climate Change

Shut your eyes and listen
to the voice of the fires
crackling through the lungs of Earth.

Can you hear flames creeping
up the bark of redwood trees
their touch scorching two-thousand
year old giants.

Will we heed this warning,
that climate change
is real?

Do we dare
to take the necessary steps
to save the planet
and ourselves?

Or will we let the darkness
of our fears
destroy civilization?
