Friends gather to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of fall
Good friends gather warmly together
To bid farewell to summer’s warmth
And welcome in fall’s cozy chill

Monarch butterflies dance
Among the late summer flowers
Alongside the busy bees

As the cook mans the grill
Many plates are passed about
Ready for grilled delights

As sunny day fades into cool evening
Those good friends gather to sit
Around the backyard fire-pit

While the snoring dog sleeps nearby
A toast is made for the year that past
And a one for the year to come

Around that backyard fire-pit
They gather to roast marshmallows for s’mores
And spin tales tall and small, new and old

As the light fades from the sky
They warmly send out one season
And warmly welcome the next
