Daily Flash Fiction: window, ship, globe =300 words
Captain Miles O’Neal was tossed out of his bunk in an instant. After standing, he ran to the window and watched as the bow of his ship, Madness of it All, dipped down and was covered with fifty foot waves. His beloved ship rolled from starboard to port and was being bounced all over the ocean, so much motion even the aged salt dog was getting sea sick. He watched as she bucked and lurched and when the snowflakes started to fall all around, he dressed and went out onto deck.

With no hesitation he ran down the poop deck shouting, “LOWER THE SAILS, LOWER THE JIB, BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES, TIE OFF THE WILLY-WANKERS AND THEN FLOG THE DOLPHINS THERE’S A MIGHTY WIND ABLOWIN!”

The Quartermaster held on and tried to secure the rigging as the Captain reached his side. The ocean spray was strong and stung his eyes. “Oy Matey, what on earth do you think this is? He asked, “there ain’t a cloud in the sky?” Both men watched as the sailors, struggling to keep their balance, pulled and tied ropes, fastened lines, and wiped the snowflakes out of their eyes.

“Aye Cap’n, it’s that bratty kid shakin’ the snow globe again, it’ll be over in a minute.”
