Daily Flash Fiction 12/6/22 W/C 133

A stolen glance, the return gaze from those deep blue eyes that one could dive into as if into a clear pool of water.

Every day we took the chance, stole a glance, brushed a hand, said a whisper, passed a note. Each time could be the last.

Weeks passed, but one day the note stated, ‘Meet on the mountain’. So I ran to to the top. I waited for the one with the deep blue eyes. And waited. The sun went down, then rose again. I remained on the mountain.

Finally I saw the one with the deep blue eyes walking my way.

“Come, my love, let’s go. It’s finally time,” she said to me.

We walked over the top of the mountain, down the other side, never to be seen again.
