A small essay I wrote about when to step up and when to step down.
Trust the ‘process’. What is the process? ‘The process’ is different for everyone, the process is the reaching of your goals. What can you expect to come out of trusting the process? You can’t really, you just have to follow through. It will be tiring, and draining, but you’ll make it and reach your goals if you just know when to step up and step down.

How do you know when you step up and step down?

The idea is listening to your mind, and body. If one is tired, the other is going to want to keep going. Listen, and pay attention. If both are tired, take action immediately, step down from working and take a break. If neither are tired or intoxicated step up and get things done. If you know you can do it, if you are unsure step down, take a breather, and ask a wiser individual for advice.

Who would be the wiser person to go to?

The wisest person to go to would be someone you trust. That is the main preference. Though also take into consideration of how much experience they’ve had, how old they are, and how many people come to them for advice. Like, you wouldn’t go to a five year old for advice about a difficult trigonometry problem.

Can’t I just go to my friends for advice?

In some cases you can, but if they are the same age or a little younger or a little older, they might be going through the same thing as you so they might give you incorrect information. If they got advice from a wise person then yes it would be smart to ask them what advice they got. Back to the idea of stepping up; when you get smart advice about something you were struggling with and share it with the ones that are going through the same or similar things.

What if I don’t have advice for someone and they desperately need it?

In that case, you should do your best to find them help. Pass them onto a person who has the needed advice and is willing. Though, if someone reluctantly agrees to helping them find another person, because they aren't going to care about what they’re saying and end up giving horrid advice to the person in desperate help.

Step up when you have energy to give, step down when you need to find help.
