Elisabeth seeks important answers to save her beloved. Or at least that's what she claims.
With her heart pounding, Elisabeth snuck to the library carved in the cavern walls. She glanced over her shoulder. No one watched her.

The darkness swallowed her when she stepped inside the quiet building, its keepers centuries dead. She turned on her headlamp.

The glow illuminated lava rock shelves, filled with ancient writings. Her chest clenched as she examined the beauty. This was a place that humankind had not ventured into for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.

Here she was, sneaking in for secrets worth more than all the money in the world.

Arryo refused to share his immortality by telling how to move human souls to metal bodies. He swore he didn’t know and it was a curse. She didn’t believe him.

He also said that ALL the knowledge of his people was contained in the library. She would find it, not because she wanted to betray him, but quite the opposite. She loved him and wanted to protect him from those who would try to separate them. She would use the knowledge to turn their soldiers into an undefeatable force and they would be protected forever.

She turned her headlamp to the nearest shelf and read the hammered metal label. The extinct writing read: The Accu Family.

The immensity of her task sunk in. There were rows upon rows of full shelves and she didn’t even know what she was looking for.

A scrape behind her made her spin on her bootheels. Arryo’s glowing blue eyes locked on her.

“What are you looking for?” he asked.

“Something to read.”

He scrutinized her for a moment before guiding her to a shelf. “This will have good tales.”

The label read: History.

She smiled. He was right, it would be a good place to begin her hunt.
