Message from a hesitant lover
MESSENGER—a sonnet

My love, this note is meant to let you know
That you are the queen of my dreary life.
I often dream I am taking a vow
As I and you become husband and wife.

I know it’s not a way to propose but
Let this an honest explanation be:
I can’t muster the courage in my gut
To ask you for a date somewhere with me.

I hesitate, trepidation kills me
The moment I consider this prospect.
My days, my weeks and months have gone empty,
In hope that my feelings you may suspect.

Let this uncertainty no more linger.
Let this sonnet be my true messenger.
