A blog with known words. |
It is a blog where I share my thoughts with you. I try to tell you how Bengal people can write a bit. What is the magic behind it? This is the most important question. These are logically described in this blog post. I hope you will enjoy it very much. |
In front of Calcutta University, the old coffee House is situated. It is known as the cultural Hub of Bengal. It is the birthplace of Little Magazine. Now you can find more than 10K little magazine groups in West Bengal, here and there. Please, underline the word 'group'. What does it indicate? It indicates, that it is not a solo effort, it is a group or team effort. For example, we have five members. We need INR 500 as the publication cost. Five friends contributed equally. It is INR 100 each. We write 1st draft. We read them in a close place. The teamwork begins. We criticize one by one. First, what part do you like most and why? Secondly, you may advise the author to change something. There should be a genuine logic. This will happen thrice. The third draft is considered a final draft. Now, the hardest part comes. That's selling a book. We get in hand:125 copies Specimen copies:25. Remaining copies:100. MRP per book:INR 5. Selling is a hard task. Suppose, 70 of them sold. That doesn't mean we get INR 350. It would be 270. Many people do not have money. We give them free of cost. Some people bargain. Anyway, through this Little Magazine, we learn criticism, writing, and proofreading. We consider it as the God-gifted beauty. |
After Tagore, a void space came in Bengali literature, especially, in the field of poetry. Then a group of literature lover people created "Kallol era". Kollol means the voice of people. So, politics, social reform, and even love took place here. Free-verse poetries could be seen mainly. That era is continuing now. Those poets who created this era are still worshipped. "Kollol Era" is noted for another reason. It created "Little Magazine". How? I'll tell you in the next issue. |
