God Disciplines Like A Father
For my blog

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Proverbs 3:11-12
11 My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction:
12 For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Write about a time you were chastened by the Lord.

Answer:
Sometimes I think we fail to realize in the moment that we are being chastened by the Lord. I used to feel bitterness against the Lord because I was miserable in life and I never knew the difference of when I was being tried and when I was being disciplined. My parents caused me to see God as an angry vengeful God that expected no less than perfection. This is partially true. He is righteousness. He can not stand anything less than righteousness. Yes, he does get angry. Yes, he will punish those who reject him by separating them from him and casting them into outer darkness. He has set healthy boundaries for himself and us. He is full of love, mercy, and compassion.

Anger is a result of something else. It is a response to being disappointed, hurt, or betrayed. God gets angry when we betray, hurt, and disappoint him. He isn’t just angry to be angry and narcissistic. He has set his plan and will before us for our good and given us a choice to either accept or reject it. He has listed a set of consequences for either action of acceptance or rejection. When we accept his will and obey it, there are blessings. When we reject Him and His ways, there are curses. He follows through on the boundaries that he has set, like a parent setting house rules and consequences for their children.

After I got into the Word daily, I could look back on my life and see the difference then. We bring so many unnecessary things upon our own selves. This is part of the reason the Bible says we are bound by our own sin. In Haggai it says you should consider your ways. This is very good advice.

I have suffered a lot in my life due to the fact that I did not put God first or have my priorities straight. My finances suffered. My relationships suffered. I tried to make things right in my own eyes and ended up in a very bad and abusive relationship for 3 years. I was promiscuous. I tried to force myself into the relationship because I had not kept myself pure and had wanted to settle down. So by committing myself to this relationship, I was trying to make it right even though we never got married. Marriage kept getting put off for one reason or another. I even got pregnant and had a miscarriage. It was a complete disaster.

PROMPT May 22nd

Write about the biggest challenge you have faced and how you overcame it.

Wow! The biggest challenge huh? I have been thinking about this all day trying to come up with a good answer. Life itself is a challenge.

I guess my biggest challenge was just growing up and getting through high school. I did it one day at a time. That is all you really can do. That is how we live our lives, one day at a time.

Scripture writing - Psalm 18:19-24

Scripture:
19 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
20 The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
21 For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
22 For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.
23 I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.
24 Therefore hath the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

Observations:
Verse 19- The Lord delivers who he delights in.
Verse 20- The Lord will reward us for the good we do.
Verse 21- The psalmist doesn't depart from God's ways.
Verse 22- he keeps God's judgement before him and keeps his statutes.
Verse 23- he stayed away from sin.
Verse 24- God is our judge rather we do good or evil.

Application:
God is our judge rather we do good or evil. God delights in those who keep his commandments and will deliver them.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Help me stay away from evil. I desire to be good. I love you. I want no other gods.
In Jesus’s righteous name,
Amen

Some of the crew partied a little too hard yesterday at the star base so we took pity on them today and let them sleep in. Instead of warping to the outer rim or anything too extraordinary, we stayed in familiar territory. We visited Lostwordsmith (476) who has been burning brightly in the WDC galaxy for sometime. . What do you do to deal with summer heat?

A I R C O N D I T I O N I N G! 😂 I try to avoid getting burned because I am a really white girl. Lol I try to avoid the extreme heat when possible. If I have to do things outside, I do them in the early morning. Sun screen tends to make me burn worse so I avoid it. I try to stay in the shade and pay attention if I feel my skin getting hot. I will wear baseball caps a lot. I always drink a lot of water. Hydration is key.

Have you ever written something that made you cry while writing it? What triggered that response?

Yes, I have. I can be an emotional writer, but it helps me portray those emotions into my writing. An example of this would be when I wrote about the time I was raped as I remembers it.

When I am writing fiction, I want to feel what my character is feeling so I can better describe it. It brings more passion into my writing.
