Take UP Your Cross

Scripture writing prompt: Acts 21:25 - As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

I believe these are the issues that the Jewish Christians felt were the most important issues in that time. They also agreed to simplify the requirements for the gentiles instead of holding them to everything the Jewish law required. This is the law of grace at work.

Prayer prompt: Pray for people who have been affected by the recent public/church shootings in America recently.

Blog prompt: Should a Christian read or write horror stories? Why or why not?

I think this is a gray area. For me, I love a good mystery or sometimes even a horror story. However, God has not given us a spirit of fear. Anything meant to cause fear may be a questionable thing. Some may say that if it is questionable, it is better to be avoided. So, I'm not sure where I stand here. I have mixed feelings about it. And you may see from time to time a spooky story or poem in my portfolio. Then again, as a writer, I think it is good to try different forms of writing to gain experience and knowledge.

Planet Lou-Here By His Grace has been having some reports of paranormal activity. I called
a ghost hunter friend to go with me to investigate. Here's what we found.

Read, review and write about haunted buildings.

I am intrigued and curios about haunted buildings and places. Although, a lot of Christians believe they are demons. Demons or not, I definitely believe they are real, and they are spirits.

What is your favorite Halloween memory?

I don't have very many of them. However, I do have a few. Most are after adulthood. My parents were Christian and after I was about 5 years old, they decided participating in Halloween was a sin.

My dad dressed up as a monster and we went to church, where they had a haunted house in the basement. I was about 3 years old then. He went around scaring the other kids, and I thought it was funny. He was more of a funny monster than a scary one, at least in my opinion. Maybe it's because I knew he was my Daddy.

Prompt: "My work is the embodiment of dreams in one form or another." William Morris Write about this Quote in your Blog entry today.

For someone who is focused on fulfilling their dreams, I can see how this statement would be true. Someone who lacks focus on the other hand, that may not be exactly true. Sometimes one works to just pay bills. Unfortuately, I was in that later category for a big part of my life. I wish I had known better.

Prompt #1: If you were an actor, do you think it'd be more interesting to be a "that guy" or "that girl" character actor (i.e., someone who audiences recognize from a bunch of different roles, but isn't famous enough to have many leading roles or to be a household name), or to be an actor that was really famous for one role years ago (e.g., Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Jennifer Grey as Baby from Dirty Dancing, etc.)?

I think it would be better to keep it consistent and to have the smaller roles than to have only one big one. People tend to get hung-up on that one famous character. Whereas having multiple roles would strengthen and enhance your resume.
