The goal is simple: encourage a writer.


Cheer Crew is the community spirit behind WdC Writing Season.

Writing Season isn't only about chasing word count goals or completing daily activities. Members can also encourage, celebrate, and motivate the writers around them, and Cheer Crew exists to bring that community spirit to the entire season.

Whether you're cheering on one friend or an entire community, your support can make all the difference.

How Cheer Crew Works

Throughout Writing Season, Cheer Crew members help create an encouraging atmosphere for everyone participating.

Support can come in many forms, including:

• Leaving a Cheer for a fellow writer
• Sending a Cheer Sign to celebrate or encourage someone
• Congratulating writers on milestones and accomplishments
• Welcoming new participants
• Encouraging writers who could use a little extra motivation

Leaving a Cheer is free. Cheer Signs are optional gifts sent using Gift Points.

There's no single "right" way to be part of Cheer Crew. Every act of encouragement helps make Writing Season more enjoyable for someone else.

Recognition

Cheer Crew includes special Merit Badges to recognize members who go above and beyond in supporting others throughout Writing Season.

Whether you encourage a handful of writers or spend the entire season lifting others up, your contributions matter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to participate in Fun Run, Base Camp, or Marathon?
A member can join Cheer Crew without necessarily writing in one of the three events, but Cheer Crew itself is part of Writing Season and requires registration.

Can I be part of Cheer Crew while participating in another event?
Absolutely! Many writers enjoy encouraging others while working toward their own goals.

What counts as cheering someone on?
Leaving Cheers, sending Cheer Signs, congratulating writers on milestones, welcoming participants, and offering encouragement all contribute to the spirit of Cheer Crew.

Does it cost anything to cheer someone on?
Leaving a Cheer is free. Cheer Signs, Merit Badges, and C-Notes are optional gifts that can be sent using Gift Points.
