Cinco de Mayo: Do you celebrate it? Do you know the story behind it? Do you find it to be a fun holiday, and why do you think it is more popular in the United States than in Mexico?
Did I celebrate Cinco de Mayo today?
You can find out by going here:
"Staycationing Report On Cinco de Mayo Twenty-Twenty"
Anyway, it seems as if I don't give it a whole lot of thought.
It's just suddenly here and then gone these days.
In fact, I sometimes think of it at other times during the year and/or a few days before or a few days after. And I might think of it from time to time on the actual day.
Anyway, I think I might use this time to learn more about it and will, hopefully, be more ready to celebrate it next year.
Here are a couple places I can go to find out more about it.
As for what makes it so popular here to the point of it's being even more popular north of the border than south of the border...for one thing, it's one more great excuse for pigging out on tacos and other delicious Mexican food -- usually, at a discounted price because the restaurants that are serving it are celebrating, too.
Anyway...Happy Cinco de Mayo -- or should I say Happy BELATED Cinco de Mayo when it comes to Anderson, Indiana time.
But it's not even 12:30 AM on May 6, so Cinco de Mayo is still being celebrated in Illinois and beyond (and even in a few parts of the western part of my own state), so it's all good.
In fact, it's still being celebrated in ALL of Mexico at this time...
