I am grateful mother nature still manages to wedge a few of her native children within the city confines where I live.
I took katie dog on her daily ride this morning. We stopped by the railroad tracks to watch a long tail of train cars go by. To one side was a shallow dip where water pooled. Seagulls claimed the space to rest, drink, and share company. They fluffed up their feathers and stuck their bills behind their backs between their wings to stay warm.
Such fun, bird watching, seeing how they survive and thrive with as little regard for us as most of us have for them. They take advantage of thrown french fries and rifle our leftovers readily enough, but do quite well on their own, in spite of us.
