| Once a child stops believing, the following events are rather unpredictable and oftentimes messy. As a so-called "imaginary" friend, I am the villain of one such tale. It all started when Eloise, my child, declared very boldly (and proudly) at dinner that she didn't believe in me any longer. This was startling news, but her parents seemed very supportive of this potential life-ending tragedy. Now, when this kind of thing happens, we have a choice. We can either move on and fade from existence, or we can become another facet of the child's life. The closet isn't so bad, really. |
